porte 1 Posted January 6, 2013 Hello Arma 2 community, i've finally bought a copy of Arma 2 : OA! (all the way from Germany) and am looking forward to this game, but damn is it confusing at times. Okay, so i've been playing some mission, warfare, and messing around with the editor. Which is all great fun, and i've been watching some videos, and checking threads, etc. about how to work the editor and what not. My question here is, how can I make it seem like there is a bigger war/battle going on around where my little engagement is happening, but it's not actually there. You know, atmosphere. Is there a way to do that? if not any direct kinds of way, do any of you know any sort of tips or suggestions? gun fire in the background, random artillery strikes, that sort of thing. A mod perhaps? thanks for reading.
iceman77 19 Posted January 6, 2013 A simple way is to use trigger sounds. Place a trigger and click on the effects tab. There, you will see several sounds. Ambient gun fire etc. ---------- Post added at 20:19 ---------- Previous post was at 20:15 ---------- Also, if the mission is small, and room for more "objects" without lagging, you can simply place different squads from each faction on the out skirts of your mission to attack each other. Also, may I recommend using the latest ACE mod (1.14rc), which can be downloaded with PWS. This will greatly enhance your immersion level along the way, as it's a full conversion mod. porte 1 Posted January 6, 2013 okay...triggers. I've set one up, and i found the "ambient combat1" environment. However, when i place the trigger, nothing happens. I know there has to be more to this, but i don't know what to do next. I've tried grouping to my unit, do i have to type in the condition box? I know i had to do that to set up a village. iceman77 19 Posted January 6, 2013 put true into the trigger condition and see how that works. Also, you can set the trigger to a size (ie;100x100) and do "blufor" "present" and use this as a condition
iceman77 19 Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) if you set the trigger near your unit. Put true into the condition. Add the ambient combat sounds via effects, it works, just did it :p ---------- Post added at 21:47 ---------- Previous post was at 21:43 ---------- Under effects, go to "trigger" and use the ambient - M16 or the ambient - Ak. Put true as a condition. Edited January 6, 2013 by Iceman77
porte 1 Posted January 6, 2013 Still nothing. I don't want you to think i'm lying. Maybe somethings wrong with my version of Arma 2. Because, here are my steps i take: place my player click on the triggers place a trigger right next to my guy I put activation to bluefor in the condition box. I highlight "this" that is already there, and replace it with "true" go to effects on the lower left, and click on the environment and change the "no sound" too "combat ambient 1" click ok then ok again click preview nothing is happening though. did i miss a step? iceman77 19 Posted January 6, 2013 I added to my previous post. Please re-read. And you dont need blufor present and true. Just set the trigger size to 0. And place true in the condition. Using true as a condition, means it's going to trigger straight away no matter what. ---------- Post added at 22:01 ---------- Previous post was at 21:58 ---------- Note: The sound comes from the triggers location, for less or more sound place the trigger(s) where you like the sound to come from.
