meshcarver 12 Posted January 1, 2013 Hi, I'd love to be able to start on a building that is cylindrical in shape for my new island, but thinking ahead, would this be massively problematic for accurate res/fire LODS etc..? Because of the convex rule etc..? How to make enclosed shapes the are all convex/concave(?) adhere to the cylinder shape of the main structure..? Cheers guys, Marc
[aps]gnat 28 Posted January 1, 2013 Not really a problem. Just construct the Fire and Geometry LODs from a whole bunch of tall rectangular boxes (as thick as the wall, as tall as the wall), stacked side by side (to make a wall), in a circle ......... easy. meshcarver 12 Posted January 1, 2013 Hi Gnat, cheers man, I already thought of that approach, but wouldn't that make it so if a player were to "hug" the wall and move around it, he'd get sort of stuck in the little angles where the blocks met up..? Is it ok for the blocks to overlap so to speak also..? Thanks for any more feedback on this matey..!
[aps]gnat 28 Posted January 1, 2013 Yep blocks overlap a little .... limits chance of player catching on walls (more so inside curve ones)
