Taksaven Help: Stuck at Research Center

So Im on the Taksaven mission attempting to...

engage the lift at the RC. Im in the grenade Tarus that the campaign mission automatically puts you in for that mission. I've opened the RC gate, and am at the Gate Lift, but it does not engage, and I do not get the hand icon over the lift switch. Do I need to exit the walrus somehow to activate it or is this a bug?

I had a similar problem at one point in the game, not sure if its related, but on approaching the lift, stand well back after summoning it. If it arrives and you're too close, or on top of it, it can cause a problem. I think its best to go back to your last save and approach with caution - hope that may be some help.
