Arma 2 For Mac?

Recommended Posts

Hello! I am wondering if my new macbook pro with double RAM will have the ability to run Arma 2. I understand there is no mac download, but I have heard of something called bootcamp. Does this completely convert your computer into a windows or just the arma 2 file? I am a real novice when it comes to this kind of stuff. I would like clarification please. Any assistance is well appreciated.

Thanks.

Not sure about RAM since ArmA is more CPU intensive. A better GPU also helps :)

- No Bootcamp is a system app that came with your Mac OSX. It partitions (splits your hard-drive) into 2 seperate parts. Your OSX files will be preserved but the new WINDOWS partition will steal HD space from your Mac partition (you can decide how much HD space you're going to give the Bootcamp/Windows partition)

- You will need to buy your own Windows OS for this seperate partition as it's not included with your OSX disc/bootcamp. You 'boot' into either OSX or Windows when you start up your MacBook Pro by holding down 'alt' and choosing to either boot into your Windows Partition or OSX partition

- Beware, once you partition your disc, it takes a lot of effort to delete the Windows partition if you decide you buy a PC in the future.

As for ArmA

- It runs, but bear in mind that it'll struggle (it's playable)

Hope this helps!

- JP :)

This has nothing to do with BI so no idea why you post here. Topic moved.

Also there is a sticky thread to use when you want to know wether your sytem can run Arma and how. There is also info how to run it on a mac.

§7) Search before posting

If you have a question, please use the forum search function before posting to make sure that it hasn't been answered before. There is a big chance it has, not only does searching help to keep the forum free of multiple threads it will also help you to get an answer much quicker.

§8) Post in the right forum & right thread

Please ensure you make new threads in the correct forum, if you're unsure of which forum to post in feel free to ask a moderator. If a thread exists for the topic you wish to post about you must use it, for example all ACE questions belong in the ACE thread. All addon/mod questions belong in the thread for that addon/mod. In the case of DayZ discussions they should be posted on the DayZ forums, this includes problems with the Modification. The troubleshooting forum is not for problems with Addons and Mods!
