Afroman1567 10 Posted November 29, 2012 Hello, I have a copy of ArmA 2: OA, but I lost the CD and the Serial key, and I wish to transfer it to my new computer. Is there a way I could retrieve the Serial Key and install it off the website (like TaleWorlds with Mount and Blade)? Or am I able to somehow transfer the files to my new computer that I purchased? Thanks, help is appreciated.
maddogx 13 Posted November 29, 2012 As far as I can tell, you only have one option: make a backup of your local files and all Arma2-related registry entries. The latter is particularly important, so if you're not sure how to work with the Windows registry, I would suggest reading a few help articles, such as this one. What you will need to do is find all registry sub-keys called "Bohemia Interactive" or "Bohemia Interactive Studio", then right click on them and select "export". This will allow you to backup these sub-keys into .reg files that can be re-imported on a different machine (like your new one). Since you no longer have access to your original CD key, these registry entries are very valuable - if you lose them, you will need to buy the game again. So make sure you get them all and back them up somewhere safe! ;) After moving your Arma2 installation and importing the registry keys, you will also most likely need to edit the registry values that point to the install directory, because they will almost certainly be wrong. Guest Posted November 29, 2012 Other than the above your only solution is to buy the game again. Since these kind of topics could turn into a direction which is not allowed this thread is locked.
