allthumbs 0 Posted November 24, 2012 I picked up Arma 2 Combined Operations in a Steam sale. It adds shortcuts for both regular Arma 2 as well as for Operation Arrowhead. My question is does Operation Arrowhead contain all of the base game Arma 2 within it and just adds to it if I purchased Combined Operations , and that the OA shortcut is the only one I need? Thanks

My question is does Operation Arrowhead contain all of the base game Arma 2 within it and just adds to it if I purchased Combined Operations , and that the OA shortcut is the only one I need? Thanks Operation Arrowhead does not contain all of the normal ArmA 2 content within it. If you are looking to launch Combined Ops which is all the content from A2 and all the content from A2OA Steam should give you the option to upon using either shortcut. I would suggest launching Combined Ops ALWAYS if you have both of the games. Another option would be to get a launcher that is separate from Steam so you don't have to deal with all of Steam's crap. This also allows you to easily modify launch preferences, start with any profile you want, and enable/disable addons easily which would otherwise require a lot of effort and typing with Steam. If you are interested in this route, which I would suggest over the other, just search arma 2 launcher in google and it should be the first link.(Would post a link but this is my first post so I can't)
allthumbs 0 Posted November 24, 2012 (edited) There is no option to launch Combined Ops. In buying Combined Ops, Steam gave me a download for Arma 2, and a separate download for Arrowhead. I did see, however, that upon launching Arrowhead, on the main screen where I choose options, single player, etc - it lists both Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead in the lower left hand corner. Hmmm Does Steam somehow incorporate or integrate the two into one to allow both to be run just using the OA launcher?? Edit: I did find a file named "runA2CO" in my OA folder and ran it, and it ran identical to the OA exe on my desktop, so I am guessing I am in fact running CO, but through the Operation Arrowhead exe on my desktop. I did see the maps for both games in the single player editor as well, so I further assume that I am indeed running CO. I assume a patch at some point must have integrated this. It would have been alot easier if the desktop simply gave me an exe for CO rather than trying to figure all this out. [frl]myke 14 Posted November 24, 2012 Recently i found out (with another user together) that Steam removed the Combined Ops launcher but instead OA will launch CO. It is easy to find out: start the game, go Singleplayer -> Editor and look what islands you can chose. If Chernarus and Utes are there, CO is running. That would mean, everything is okay. Sadly we don't know why Steam removed the CO launch option and it is out of our reach to change this back.
