cameron2134 1 Posted September 29, 2012 So I have been enjoying the game so far with not many problems, apart from the occasional warlus not being able to find its way, but I find that whenever my islands become under attack, I send my carrier to them, only to see the enemy carrier start fleeing, and its effectively impossible to catch because it has a headstart in distance and both seem to move at the same speed. But, if I just leave the island, it ends up getting captured. So this leaves me with having to ignore whatever I am doing, to pointlessly chase the enemy carrier around for several minutes until it vanishes, because it will not stop fleeing from my carrier. Most of the time I can't time warp anywhere because it's sat waiting in the nearby vicinity just to flee from me again, and preventing me from time warping. Anyone else having this issue? It's incredibly annoying.
dannofdawn222 1 Posted September 29, 2012 What I do is I set sail to the island next to the one being attacked. There I wait for my supplies and prepare for the imminent pursue. Once the enemy taken my island, it will aim for another closest to it excluding the one I am located. So when the crew tells me it begin attacking another island, I set sail for that immediately. I don't know 100% if enemy follow fuel usage rules the same as us. If it does, it shouldn't have enough fuel to go any where and could be why I am able to catch it every time. But even if it ignores that rule, the AI generally don't have enough time to escape with my method. One time I did the same as usual and caught it perfectly. Its walrus was on the island, so I send mine and destroyed the carrier while it was near defenseless.
Suranis 1 Posted September 29, 2012 It does run out of fuel eventually if it has no stockpile island. In the beta I tended to finish up on the Island I was taking then up sticks and head for the Island he was attacking. Even if he had taken it I could take it back easily. Eventually he had no islands left and I chased him around for a bit till he ran out of fuel. You will still move slowly without fuel so all I did was wait for the next Island attack sound and then he was there, dead in the water. Anyway the enemy carrier is supposed to be annoying and difficult to catch. its the end goal after all.
Gnrl_Grad 1 Posted September 29, 2012 (edited) Haven't met the carrier yet because there are more islands and he's a good bit away from me at the moment. Not sure but I still think he captures islands a little bit too fast though. holy crap he just showed up as I type this on my tablet, alarm made me jump! think I'm screwed cos I'm crippled and just waiting around for supplies, will report back post battle edit - ha, he sailed right passed me and im too weak to chase him so no carrier battle for me yet Edited September 29, 2012 by Gnrl_Grad
