Rames 1 Posted September 14, 2012 Hello A first I want to say that I am sorry for possibly bad or funny english. I am from Germany, but I hope you understand everything. Some days ago I ordered 'Arma II Combined Operations', because I am a officer myself and I wanted to play this game. A friend of mine wanted to play the popular modification "dayZ" with me. So I installed Arma II and Arma II Operation Arrowhead. Some tests went good, but the moment I wanted to create my own profil everything failed. If I click on profiles, no profile is shown in the list. If I clock on 'new' I can't change the name. It will always be 'PLAYER1'. I am able to modify all other information, but if I click on 'ok' nothing happened. There is no new profile in the list and I was not able to find any new profile. Annother problem is: If I change the language in Arma II OA the game tells me that it has to be restarted. If I do so the language is still 'Enlish'. I would be very happy, if someone could help me. I already tried to start Arma II as adminstrator, but there was no success. I also installed the latest patches and I installed the game again. *** Mabye my Windows could be corrupted. Some month ago the folder 'myDocuments' (windows standard library) was deleted, because my secondary harddisk failed (documents folder was'nt on c:/ at this time). I tried to recreate this folder with the help of a tutorial. So Arma II maybe is not able to create folder, which are necessary for saving information in it. kind regards Rames
W0lle 1052 Posted September 14, 2012 Your English is just fine, don't worry about that. :) If you start ArmA2 for the first time, a default profile is created with the same name you use for logging in at Windows. So if your username there is "Rames", then also your default profile in ArmA2 is called like this. The profile is created in "My Documents" but if that is screwed up or missing then that might be the reason for your first problem. However, you can change the profile path in the shortcut to anywhere you want. I for example have my profiles in D:\Profiles. For this you need to add a parameter to your ArmA2 shortcut(s): E:\ArmA2\arma2oa.exe -nosplash -profiles=D:\Profiles\ArmA2 Before you start ArmA2 with that parameter, make sure you have created that Folder already. For the second problem, the languages available depends on where you bought the game. Steam or BI store versions have several languages but not German, while the German disc versions have only German but no other languages. But since your game settings are stored where your profiles are, this problem could also be caused by ArmA2 not being able to create the folders. In addition to all that, try to run the game "as administrator" to make sure it has the necessary privileges. If you have problems following this, contact me by PM and we continue in German. :)
