ralphwiggum 6 Posted June 27, 2002 when planes crashed in April 2001, Chinese gov't didn't want this to be blown over the top. they let some ppl protest, but that was it. Chinese gov't knows that if they had dragged on and on about this then they would get into deeper trouble, including economic payback. so their plan was to end this within 2 weeks. China can't do a shit about it. if they were truly ppl's gov't those crew members would be still in China. but they know they are wrong and decided to save their face. so this time, they are doing it again, but with more caution. maybe told their pilots not to RAMBO. and they are trying to solicit international silence upon their action on Wuigurds(sp?) minorities, so they won't do stupid things to piss US off. This is just a case of Americans thinking the world needs them to spy on China since they are the protectors of the universe etc... I dont think we're on "Red Alert" or whatever, the press was just mentioning that Chinese pilots are still flying very close to American planes, though the Chinese are apparently being much more professional and careful this time. I dont know if its necessarily true to say that China is a growing threat to the world, it really depends on your perspective. China is a totalitarian state, but they are hardly like Russia was. They are free with trade, they generally dont promote terrorism. They do however have a problem with other people telling them how to handle their internal affairs. And that makes them a threat how? I dont like the Chinese government. They are opressive and not very good to a lot of their citizens...but they are pretty much a third world nation for the most part. They have 3-4 times the population that the US has, with a far lower GNP/GDP... so trying to impose our western standards isnt really fair or rational. It comes back to the great debate on whether the first world western nations should try to judge other cultures, and whether their criteria are fair or not. Its just the USA are the ones flying aircraft about the place. I think they do this because they want China to attack them. I think this is exactly what the US are doing in Iraq - they fly planes around, begging to be shot down, so that when they do they can justify going in and saving the world. If they're gonna spy, they should at least have some subtlety about it. I can see this spy plane problem escalating and china getting pretty pissed off about it. Afghanistan is going good but america still bombs the odd red cross building or groups of british tanks in these latest of conflicts. I think america does basically say to nations like china: ''Hey look, we're the most powerful nation in the world, so if you wanna camplain about us sending planes about the place and getting involved in all your affairs, then you can fuck right off, because we could fucking crush you're pathetic, poor, economically underdeveloped, laughable compared to america nation like dogs''. Obviously they do this a bit more quietly Plus, i'd just like to add - just because i don't like the way America treats other countries in the world doesn't mean i hate american civilians or america in general.
