2 Steam accounts with ARMA 2 CO + PMC/BAF on sane PC problems

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I have 2 Steam accounts, both with ARMA 2 + ARMA 2 CO + BAF + PMC DLC, so I can have two DayZ characters.

Problem is that everytime I switch between my Steam user, both the BAF and PMC DLC stop working. When I start up the game I get this error: "Failed to load file: D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\pmc\addons\air_pmc.pbo - decryption of headers failed". So if I go into Steam and select properties for both the DLC titles, run the 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache' I get the option to uninstall BAF/PMC. After doing that and starting up Combined Operation once again, both DLC will again install and function... Until I switch Steam account... again that is!

And before anyone asks.. Yes I do run everything as administrator (UAC is disabled).

Anyone got a working fix for this?

The reason this happens is that the decryption for each account is different, I would assume. The solution that I would try is have a backup of each version of the DLC (one for each account, if you get what I mean) so that you can copy those over for the corresponding account. That way, when you switch accounts, you can just copy the correct DLC folder to match the account! Not the most simple fix ever, but I think it would work.

Also, slightly off topic here but doesn't DayZ now support multiple characters on the one game via the Profile function?

This issue still occurs with newly purchased copies of ARMA II Complete. I bought 3 directly from the Bohemia Interactive store. The first one installed and plays fine. However, when either I or my other son tries to play our copies we get a Decryption of Headers Failed error. Making copies of the individual game folders and copying them over each time might be a cumbersome workaround, but it's not very viable. This is not acceptable on newly purchased games.

Is there a fix now?
