Dutch 10 Posted July 14, 2012 Hello all, I would like to bring to discussion the relation between game server performance versus its players on server. Ofcourse there are topics about this, however I thought it would be nice to more specify some problems at hand. Please share your opinion about this, preferably supported by some kind of proof. Statement 1: Servers' / multiplayer games' performance is quite dependant on how far its players are located from the server Statement 2: Player ping level and server performance are directly affiliated with eachother Statement 3: Individual player internet connection speed and server performance are directly affiliated with eachother
.kju 3245 Posted July 15, 2012 I doubt any is true. Maybe with secondary or more indirect effects to a small degree.
vipermaul 246 Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) Dutch specifically asked me to respond. However since it has been over a year and a half since I have directly admin'd a server of 30-50+ players I feel I do not remember enough specifics of my own experiences. But I do believe there are currently evidence of some undesirable relationships between client and server. I am closely watching the following hoping for some resolution in OA or if not then definitely Arma 3. https://dev-heaven.net/issues/27001 https://dev-heaven.net/issues/32202 I have seen situations where we receive Red Chains and then I have seen the Admin manually kick one or two players and the Red Chain immediately disappears. I have recently experience situations like that for what its worth. Edited July 16, 2012 by ViperMaul
