SgtDima 1 Posted July 5, 2012 Hello everyone, Here is my problem, i edited the GITS evolution mission for takistan (i just added some vehicules and things at base, removed nothing) and i did test it as "Preview" in the editor. No problem there. I went back to the editor and clicked "export to multiplayer missions", found it in my documents/arma2/missions folder, put it in the game folder (under mp missions) and started it on the lan. Still no problems, mission loads, starts and runs perfectly. Finally, i uploaded the mission to my MPmiss folder on my server, replaced the mission roll in server.cfg. I restarted the server, found it with my remote control menu ingame. But then, when i try to start my custom made mission, i go back to the "Create game" screen, with no possibility to run THAT mission (others work). I've been trying to pack the mission with several tools (PboTools, BinPbo, ToolEliteness...) but nothing helps, there is something wrong with the mission, that doesn't start at all ! Help me please ! Is there someone that knows where this issue comes from ? What do i have to do for making it work ?
Gunter Severloh 4087 Posted July 5, 2012 Hi Welcome to Bis forums. I never heard of your issue before, but I have edited many evolution missions and the Gits one on takistan as well. So what exactly did you do when you edited the mission? Maybe I can edit the mission for you, I've done the gits versions a dozen times, and have a couple on my server with custom planes choppers, and other things. I use cpbo to unpbo and pbo my files. cuel 25 Posted July 5, 2012 Sounds like there's a required addon that the server isn't running. Make sure that you're running the same addons as the server and see if it works. Check the server.rpt file.
SgtDima 1 Posted July 5, 2012 @Günter Severloh Yes i think that it's something special. I didn't see anything about that on google. I added some more humvees and also some civs at base. That's all, no mods, no triggers or scripts deleted. I have the very same issue when editing the xeno's domination. Thank you Gunter, i'll try to understand what the problem is and if i've no clues, i'll ask you .:) @cuel I'll take a look at it, but i added only basic units and vehicules. I opened the server.rpt file as you said, and i found this : " Mission GITSEvolutionV12.Takistan: Missing 'description.ext::Header' " I didn't edit that description.ext, so i really don't know what it is all about. Gunter Severloh 4087 Posted July 5, 2012 Ok another suggestion is take it out of the mission roll in the server.cfg and choose the mission and see if it works that way.
SgtDima 1 Posted July 7, 2012 It didn't work but i find the answer ! The problem came from the mission.sqm packed inside the pbo file. Editing a mission causes to add your own addons inside the : addOns[]= {}; addOnsAuto[]= {}; part of the file. I removed it and it runs perfectly. Now, we know how to cope with it if it happen to someone. Thanks for your help guys, see you online :)
cuel 25 Posted July 7, 2012 Aye that's what I was saying :)
Gunter Severloh 4087 Posted July 7, 2012 Editing a mission causes to add your own addons inside the :addOns[]= {}; addOnsAuto[]= {}; part of the file. I removed it and it runs perfectly. Obviously, editing a mission with addons running they would create an addon dependency even if you havent put anything in the mission that is related to the addon it will add the addon classname to the mission. Unless you plan on removing the addon classname every time you host a mission that has vanilla units and vehicles and such then maybe it would be best to have a shortcut that is vanilla only. But glad you got it sorted out.
