I want a new driving game

Recommended Posts

Please name a game that's comparable with Gran Turismo 3.

I want a game that is very realistic, looks great, and uses regular street cars. No F1, no NASCAR, no fantasy cars.

So name something.

Realistic, and not an organized racing event? the only game I can think of that even fits in that catagory is NFS5: Porche Unleashed and possibly motor city online (I never played that one).

How about rally trophy? The cars are real, the physics are so real that this game classifies as "simulation". Rally Trophy RULES!!!

I didn't say no organized racing.

I want a racing game that lets me race in a Mercedes CLK-GTR, a Dodge Viper, a Porsche 911, a Lamborghini Diablo or even a Murcielago... You know?

Something that I can actually drive on real streets.

I don't know If Gran Turismo 3 is a realistic game. I never played it but I assume so because I origionates for a console system and I don't think the consoles have any true racing sims. In the console games they always dumb down the physics so the game will appealy to kids and the regular joe shmoe gamer who just needs a cheap thrill.

I'm downloading the demo of Midtown Madness 2 now.

Rally Trophy looks great. But only 11 old cars? All with under 200 horsepower. sad.gif

Need For Speed looks great. I'm going to look into it further. YUM!

Now I feel like reinstalling MM2. But I won't because if I want a city driving feel, i'll just start up GTA3.

GTA3 is sort of a racing game. It's just that there are some underhand methods that you use. wink.gif

You'd be surprised at how much horsepower that is in a car that weighs only 2000lbs with realy skinny tires and 2WD and on surfaces other than tarmac. Even the slowest cars in the game pose a great challange, and you have to be nearly professional to drive in the fastest class. The physics in this game are comparable to those of Grand Prix Legands and in the fastest class, its even much more difficult than GPL.

I'll bet you couldn't do a single stage as fast as you can with the slowest car, without spinning out or running into somthing

Rally Trophy will have you gripping the wheel tightly and have your heart racing and adrenalin pumping.

In Midtown Madness you can lazily drive with one hand and eat a sandwich with the other. And leave it in automatic transmission mode because the power band in no way relects that of a real engine. Saying that midtown madness is realistic is like saying watching football is just as real as playing it. Midtown Madness can be fun for a while (in a lazy, arcadish, consolish sort of way) and its good for some amout of fun (crushing the cops with a bus) but this all weres off fast when you master the game in a few hours.

11 cars not enough for you? thats more than I'm used to. confused.gif

actually there is 22 cars, because each car has a pure stock and factory run car. The factory cars are more powerful.

Side note: the expert class cars all make over 200bhp.

There are 5 games, but Porsche Unleashed is the only realictic one. However you can have a lot of fun running from the cops in Hot Pursuit and High Stakes.

Midtown Madness is crazy fun, lol.

Porsche Unleashed kept crashing on me. But amazingly fun.

Hot Pursuit and High Stakes wouldn't install. It said "They only run on Windows 95 and 98". sad.gif

I'll try Rally Trophy now.

I have GTA3. It was fun until I finished it.

After you finish the game once, it all gets boring.

Driving is unrealistic, and there's no speedometer.

GTA 3 PC would be realistic, if it wasnt so.. console ported

the company claimed they would make the PC version the best etc etc and all that hype.. and it looks as tho they TRYED to duplicate flashpoints wonderfull different controler for different situations thing.. by TRYING to have the incar controls different than the walking controls... but they dont seem to work too well.. steering with a joystick is a 2 tone affair.. you cant steer precisely.. its either no steering... half steering.. or full steering in the direction of your choice

the acceleration is a disapointment and there doesnt seem to be anyway to slow the cars down.. forward is just.. FULL THROTTLE.. and keeping a constant speed is near impossible unless you pulse the forward button

I love midtown madness 2 and 1.. and would have loved to see GTA 3 be like that..

to my knowlage.. GTA 2 had a more realistic driving experience.. atleast the cars had acceleration..

oh and I own the american non censored version.. not the australian half assed version for anyone who was wondering
