brgnorway 0 Posted June 21, 2002 I could do with some help on a technical question. A friend of mine told me that IBM computers dont use off the shelf components. I'd like to up my MB RAM TO 256 but I'm worried it might be a bit costly. Is it possible to use "SD RAM" on an IBM Aptiva - and if not - will it be very expencive??? Mister Frag 0 Posted June 22, 2002 IBM Aptivas use industry-standard memory, the only question is what kind -- this depends on the exact model you have. If you can tell me what Aptiva it is, I can find out what type of memory it requires, and how much you should be paying for it.

Mister Frag 0 Posted June 22, 2002 The IBM Aptiva 840 uses standard PC-133 SDRAM DIMMs, which should set you back about US$ 20-25 each for 128MB modules. It should be about the same for Euros, since the exchange rate is almost 1-to-1 right now. You can find the complete technical specifications HERE.
