5970 Game freezing. Incorrect RAM detection?

Recommended Posts

i'm having a problem where the game will run fine (100fps+, 90% GPU utilization on both cores) but then when entering an area with more detail, the game will start to freeze for seconds at a time. I know what this is from experience with other games, The GPU memory is full. I confirmed that this was the case by watching the VRAM usage in realtime with afterburner.

My card is the 5970 2gb (with 12.4a cats, fresh install), and i'm running a intel i5 750 @ 4.0ghz with 4gig of system ram on windows7 64bit Pro.

I'm running the latest arma 2 OA beta.

ArmaOA.cfg is reporting this:

localVRAM=2111168512;

nonlocalVRAM=1877501952;

Shouldn't the first one be 1gig? And shouldn't the 2nd one be my pagefile size? (7gig)

What i think is happening is that the game thinks it has more ram to work with, when the RAM is actually all used, causing this freezing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here's my system info from DXDIAG:
