Smellslike1974 1 Posted May 15, 2012 Hello, forgive me if I am posting In the wrong location I searched to find my problem but had no luck. I downloaded Arma 2:Free a week and a half ago. It was running fine with no problems on low settings until a couple days ago when at the start menu I noticed the graphics/textures were messed up. I thought it was a menu glitch and continued to the editor. Upon previewing in the editor all in game textures/models were "broken". The sky had triangles along with the water, roads were stretched to the sky and across fields, houses looked demolished, people were stretched and anything such as glass that was supposed to be transparent wasn't(such as looking through scopes/windows). I was going to post a link to a video showing the issues but this is my first post. I will post it as a reply. Now I have been debating back and forth whether or not to seek help from a forum because I thought maybe I could fix the problem and not bother anyone with it. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalled the same way I did before from the website download links. I did that and the game was still messed up. I then tried downloading it through steam but I still have the same issues. I have tried downloading the updates for Arma 2:Free and I have also updated all of my drivers and still no luck. Here are my pc specs: Vista 64 bit Service pack 2 4.00 GB RAM DDR2 ATI radeon HD 3400 Series 2041 MB Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.80GHz ---------- Post added at 15:19 ---------- Previous post was at 15:17 ---------- Video:
Thebloodylies 1 Posted May 15, 2012 (edited) ...I have also updated all of my drivers and still no luck. Are you by any chance using an ATI card? I am having identical problems and I think it may be caused by the Catalyst Control Center update. I am going to uninstall CCC and use an earlier version to see if this fixes the problem. Another problem I am having, when I run OA the game crashes on startup unless i have mods in my game folder, I tried reinstalling (just finished the download off steam) but it still crashes when doing the checks. This may also be caused by CCC as it started happening at the same time. Ill let you know when I finish installing CCC. Okay! so i reinstalled CCC 10.0 (chose 10 rather than 11 to be safe). Then tested it in Arma2free, good news! i now have no graphical problems like the ones you described. If you have an ATI card and need to know how to reinstall CCC just ask and ill type it up. Bad news for me, i still cant run OA.....it may be something i had in a mod that got left behind, but i will keep trying to fix it. I started with 12.1 and had no luck then i installed version 10 and i still have the problem.Did you uninstall anything else besides the CCC? When i go to install the older version its tells me other stuff is up to date already,i am thinking about rolling back the other things you get with the CCC pack. Thebloodylies 1 Posted May 15, 2012 You need to go into control panel and Uninstall AMD Catalyst Install Manager, then choose Express Uninstall All AMD Software. After uninstalling it all you need to restart your computer and run the older installer, after that it should work fine.
Smellslike1974 1 Posted May 15, 2012 I reinstalled CCC. During the install there was a hiccup with a file. The games graphics are fix but now my computer has no sound. I guess I will re install again.
Thebloodylies 1 Posted May 17, 2012 I am not sure why you dont have sound, i dont think the CCC does anything with sound drivers, you may be able to solve the problem by reinstalling your soundcard drivers.
KrIxXuS 10 Posted May 17, 2012 (edited) Horus pointed something out earlier in the ATI thread as there have been problems with ati's so called legacy product's!...here's a link for the driver and a description for you.. Issue Description:We’ve recently identified an issue where some of our legacy graphics products are producing certain artifacts in Diablo III and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim with our latest release of Catalyst™ 12.4. This issue only affects users of ATI Radeon™ HD 2400, 2600, 2900, 3400, 3600 and 4500 graphics cards under Windows® Vista® and Windows 7. Note: Users of these products under Windows XP are unaffected. Resolution: This issue has now been resolved in the AMD Catalyst 12.4a hotfix driver. Users of the ATI Radeon HD 2400, 2600, 2900, 3400, 3600 and 4500 graphics cards are the only AMD customers who need to download this hotfix driver. http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst124ahotfix.aspx Thank's to Horus for the Info and find on the new driver ;-) EDIT* if you are uninstalling i recommend following this guide ... http://www.overclock.net/t/988215/how-to-properly-uninstall-ati-amd-software-drivers-for-graphics-cards Edited May 17, 2012 by KrIxXuS
