Really there were 3 images with over 100kb ? Whoa, strange I haven't noticed. I think most guys posted hyperlinks to the image, but it's okay. Many threads often suffer from those few individuals who don't bother to check the file size.

I guess for a mod to actually PM those folks and notify them would be asking too much. It's the thread and those who enjoy it that have to suffer instead of some ignorant person.

Yes it would, reading every thread to ensure it's ok, moving wrong things posted in the wrong place, authorising new accounts, replying to Emails from people who contact OFPN, things like that take up enough of my time, time that I give freely and willingly, I'm not prepared to give up more of my time because people are too lazy to check or edit their images, if that's too difficult for you to comprehend, the fact I might like to get at least some college work done, as well as doing stuff away from the forums, then tough smile.gif

From what I see you're not the only moderator here. If you haven't got the time then perhaps you shouldn't have become a moderator in the first place, ey ?

Why should people who enjoy a good thread suffer because of some ignorant asshole who doens't read the rules ?

Instead of writing a reply here saying that if another image over 100kb is posted it will be shut down you could have PMed the person who posted that image and warn them that if they do it again their posting priviliges will be taken away for a week, or whatever punishment you consider to be appropriate.

Fine advocatexx. Then we pronounce you our official image inspector. If you find somebody that breaks the 100kb limit then you PM that person and tell them to reduce the image. Your help and that of others would be most welcome.

The 100kb rule was set by BIS and since this is their board we have to follow it, regardless if we like it or not. Besides, I think that 56k users are very happy for that rule.

It doesn't require much effort for an individual to resize the image he is about to post. It is much more work if a limited number of mods have to check every picture and PM the person in question.

I think that Placebo has been more then tolerant with these direct violations of forum rules, so I don't know what your problem is.

I will accept you haven't been around all that long so you can only base your opinion on what you've seen so far, however at first I simply posted a reply asking people to remove their pics and replace them with ones under 100kb, this I did for many months and still people didn't get the 100kb message.

Next I took to editing the post so that instead of a hotlinked image over 100kb it was a link to a pic over 100kb, this I did for many months and still people didn't get the message.

So now I will delete posts, or if necessary close/delete the complete thread, if people won't take their time to follow one simple easy quick to comply with rule then I won't take my time over it either smile.gif

Change my "Vulvanic interruption" to "Image Inspector" as well as enabling my account to edit posts so I may remove the images. I would do my best.

Otherwise don't tell me you haven't got the time to PM the person instead of writing a reply to the topic threatening to shut it down because of some new members who neglect to read the rules. It's a very simple and logical. PMing a member who made that mistake and writing a reply to the topic both take the same amount of time.

These forums have 17000 users of who 100 are usually online at the same time. There are 20 new posts/hour in average. We can't keep track of who has once before posted a too large image. Besides the all the basic forum administration things there is also processing new member requests. As you can guess, it takes some time. Why then sacrifice even more time on ppl that know about and don't respect the rulse?

The problem with PM's is that they affect only the person who gets it. So it doesn't stop others to do the same thing. That's why placebo puts out a general warning, and it works.

It is too bad that it affects everybody in the thread, even the innocent ones. I agree on that. I'll tell you what I'll do: if I happen to see a post that breaks the 100kb rule, I'll edit it, remove the picture and repeat the rules in the post. If sombody is on purpouse breaking the rule repeatedly, I'll talk to them personally.

Is that ok by you?

Wow you actually baugth Die Hard? I played the demo for all of 5 minutes before the unistall. Didn't like it at all. I actually have to desktops, the gaudy fx laiden one I posted and when I go to play games I use end-it-all to close everything. That way I get the best of both worlds. I actually have around 50 or so wallpapers and I have a little program that scrolls them every 5 minutes. I've got a lot of my wallpapers from here:

It's litestep. It uses less resources, has cooler stuff, and theres tons of themes so it'll look rad.

It replaces explorer as your default shell so you no longer have the windows taskbar, start button, etc.

You get cool things like virtual desktops, integrated winamp, custom modules like the little system resources/hard drive space/uptime one I have included in my theme. Plus its very customizeable.

Intrigued?

Google Search

You can get tons of different themes for it and it's relatively easy to setup, but if you're a n00b, dont do it. You could end up screwing something up.

My theme if you're interested is called 404 and I got it from deviant art

Titanium, your image is 105kb in size. Please post a hyperlink to it instead as the image limit is 100kb. We don't want this thread shut down.
