meveld 0 Posted June 7, 2002 Could anyone give me some info on how to conduct a woods cleanup. For instance what formation is best?
ralphwiggum 6 Posted June 7, 2002 depends on your situation...i really don't recall any official missions that required clearing woods.(i never played Red Hammer ) but i'd say either wedge or line would be my choice. since wedge is used when going into unknown territory(if i rememeber correctly), it could help since it's pain in ass to go into the forrest. on the other hand, a straight line would do good since you can sweep the forest in one single line and upon contact, you can have others to back you up. if you have enough numbers, you can probably have some cover you from outside in both right and left, and rest can search the woods..just make sure that none of you get into crossfire upon contact with enemy. i.e. move in one direction, bith out and inside. and never rush. look, hear look hear and look hear but it all depends i guess. Random 0 Posted June 8, 2002 There are a couple of Red Hammer missions that have enemies in the woods. An easy way is just to leave your men outside the woods, then crawl inside. Hide in bushes and right-click on the enemies when you see them. Your teammates will then shoot them. This is only in Cadet mode though, so it's probably harder on Veteran. Nephilimn 0 Posted June 8, 2002 I found the easiest way to do this is going in Line formation and WALKING in first person view (not looking through the iron sights) and panning my view with the Alt key to watch my sides. If you move in the normal Run mode, the AI has a tendency to get hung up in trees (or each other ) and they become practically useless as there is 100 meters of forest between you and the rest of your squad. If you then encounter any enemy you can quickly go prone and crawl to cover and start targetting enemies. Also I found grenades to be quite useful as alot of the forest battles can be closed to within 20 - 40 meters. ...I'm thinking...Maybe six feet ain't so far down...
SpaceAlex 0 Posted June 8, 2002 Leave your men behind, sneak into the woods and kill the enemy. It's as easy as that. You can also send your order your men to take poitions near the forest. Or you can order them to fall back into formation when you're inside the base. This will also work.
