Problem with xp and ofp 1.20 onwards

Recommended Posts

I just got Windows XP Proffesional Edition 2 days ago and installed Operation Flashpoint. I tryed it and it worked beutifully so i updated to 1.20 and then when i went to play a single player/multiplayer game the screen would like shake as if someone put mouse look on and moved the mouse rapidly left and right and also the soldiers head would start moving down and it just makes the game impossible to play mad.gif

I have been playing Operaion Flashpoint for a few months and the only hardware i have updated since then was going to 512 RAM ... Everything works great in version 1.00 but once i install 1.20 this bug comes in, upgrading to 1.30 had the same problem, same with all the other updates including 1.60, but the shaking stops when i put a scope on or go to iron sights view. I reinstalled and had the same prolem, downloaded Det. 28.32 drivers and still have this problem.

ANY tips on how to stop this bug would be greatly appreciated.

Very long shot: do you have any joysticks connected?

Actually i do, Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital but the software for it to work isnt installed so i dont think that is the problem ... but i may be wrong, i remember going to 'control panel' and going to 'Add Hardware' and adding the joystick to it, ill unplug it and see what happens.

I got the Logitech Wingman extreme digital 3D (same as yours, but you can twist the stick). The joystick has some kind of flaw, which makes it continuesly report different positions of the joystick, eventhough you are not touching at all. This "noice" happens very fast. If you would have mapped the x/y axis of that joystick to freelook then it might be causing that. I don't know if you *can* do that in OF, haven't tried it yet.

edit: Great to hear to that smile.gif

Should be added to Avon's faq (if it isn't already)

The warning about joysticks has been in The FAQ for ages.

hmm, I can't find any page on your faq that's about joysticks, which cause shaking sad.gif

Search The FAQ for "joystick". It's the first matching item. What did you search for that it wasn't found?

In your faq: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">lag or freezing up every 3 to 5 seconds<span id='postcolor'>

In this case, it was "shaking" ->

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">shake as if someone put mouse look on and moved the mouse rapidly left and right<span id='postcolor'>

I believe this is due to his joystick (which was mapped to the view up/down and/or left/right). I have pretty much the same one and it has the same thing. When not touching the joystick it will still give different x/y/z values. This is known as "noice". Flanker 2.0 actually had ingame settings for this problem.

Did you mean "noise"?

I'll update The FAQ to mention the shaking.
