I need info on some model design progs

Recommended Posts

ive looked at Gmax and things like that but they confuse me as i cant tell how big or small im making something and not to mention i have no clue whether or not any new polys i make are properly aligned. ive heard of people using profesional software for models and im wondering if there is anything out there that works in a simaler maner to autocad inventor, for those of you that dont know what it is its a computor program to make designs and models in full 3d as you make it

but this program costs 2000$ american even though i have heard of utilitys that can convert the files it uses to PBO i need something more affordable like in the 100$ range or less

Well, you could try searching Google first. But since that seems to be to hard I will try and help you.

I use 3D Studio Max, which is Gmax's older brother, and I think it's simply perfect. I am not sure what you mean by the alignment of the polygons. Just use the different viewports to align them if they are off.

And about the scale: You can set up what unit system gmax should use. It has millimeter, meter, centimeter, decimeter, foot, inch, and gmax generic format.

Now, when you create an object you can choose "Keyboard entry", which lets you decide exactly how many millimeters or meters and object should be in every direction.
