miohn 1 Posted November 30, 2011 Hi all, pretty new to TOH and I have problems to set up my "black widow" controller. I know its not the best controller, but should be o.k. for a non flightsim enthusiast like me. Does anyone have a "profil" for that controller? And how can I apply it? If theres is no profil available, which functions do you recommend to apply to the 8 available buttons? And how can I map correctly the cooliehat? (Btw. I unistalled the speedlink-drivers again, because the stick works good/better without that "fake force-feedback" with the win7-built-in drivers) And one more: in career-mode "mission 1 and 2" I'm totally unable to land the heli! The beast suddenly drifts sideways and I crash and I don't know: - is that part/difficulty of the mission? - is it the joystick which gets suddenly cracy? - or ( and thats what I fear) is it me? thanks MIke
DnA 5143 Posted November 30, 2011 Let's tackle one issue at a time, starting with your controller :) Can you try to map the Generic Joystick scheme to it? Options > Controllers > Customize > Schemes. This should map acceptable default axes and buttons, but you can also change those mappings however you like.
miohn 1 Posted November 30, 2011 Hi DnA, I maped different shemes and one of them seems to work right now. But I could not map the cooliehat f.e. properly when customizing the controller manually. Anyway! Its working now. But what (which functions) are best or recommended for mapping the other 8 buttons? Now to my next issue, please? Oh, and a third one: I have seen nice videos from people flying the beautifull "Chernarus" map. Which Arma-Version do I have to buy to get this scenery? regards Mike
hon0 10 Posted November 30, 2011 I down know your joystick so you may be need the trim set and the trim release option. Then gps. It's cool. And.. in case of autorotation Engine 1 & 2 to idle. Change weapon & fire. I THINK you can get the needed file to play chernarus in the free version. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=14588 Have a sweet & dangerous flight ! miohn 1 Posted December 1, 2011 Thanks HonO! will try that! regards Mike
DnA 5143 Posted December 1, 2011 Some other recommended actions to map to buttons are (but this is mostly personal preference): auto-hover, manual trim set / release, rope interaction and center view :) Landing and hovering are generally expected to be challenging. There are several things to look at to get you going: The lift off and landing training lessons. What difficulty level are you using? The first two have auto-trim enabled by default, which is a fair bit easier and more stable. Auto-hover makes landing and hovering quite easy (while auto-hover is enabled, so is auto-trim). Tuning your joystick axes sensitivity curves can make a huge difference. Some people prefer very high sensitivity, whereas others prefer to make large movements. Question #3: try to run a search on Chernarus in the TKOH forums ;)
