maddogx 13 Posted October 27, 2011 Hey guys, just a little FYI: make sure to defragment your TakOH directory (or the HDD it is installed to) after installing. I just did this and the diagnostic result at the end said that there was an average of ~4.5 fragments per file, which is a lot. Defragmenting can improve the speed at which files are streamed from your hard drive, potentially increasing performance and/or visual quality. If you're not sure how to do this, post here. There's a neat little tool called Contig that can defragment specific folders, but it isn't trivial for the average user to use.
jcgam 11 Posted October 27, 2011 Great tip! FYI, defrag is scheduled automatically by default in windows 7: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/e7/archive/2009/01/25/disk-defragmentation-background-and-engineering-the-windows-7-improvements.aspx
-DirTyDeeDs--Ziggy- 0 Posted October 27, 2011 good advice! I automatically do this and restart, after major installs. (Auslogics Disk Defrag) mine was like ~30% fragged on the download drive, 14% fragged on the game install drive. :butbut:
Derbysieger 11 Posted October 27, 2011 This should be in the manual tbh. For all BIS games (if not installed on a SSD) defragmenting the harddrive is essential for good performance. A SSD works wonders btw. That is why I bought a dedicated SSD for the Arma-series (and now TakOH) a while ago.
