EpOcH91 10 Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) To make a long story Short, i downloaded Arma 2 via the website and installed it. It never asked me for a Product key. Well i began having issues (listed below) so I downloaded Arma 2 through Steam (Free version) to see if that would fix the issues. When i launch the game, steam gives me the product key. Yet i dont know when/where to enter it. I believe that may be causing my issues in MP which are.... 1).I connect to a server and i cannot choose a team, someone has to add me to the teams manually. 2.) after about 2 minutes or so i get the "session lost" message and get disconnected. How can i fix these? Im also having other issues such as if i dont get disconnected the game says "receiving mission files 0kb/0kb" and just sits there. System Specs (if this is of any help): AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE @ 3.2Ghz AMD Radeon HD 6850 4GB Ram Windows 7 32bit Current Arma 2 version: 1.10 I'm trying to join my friends and they all have either OA or CO. Is that the issue? They say they arent launching OA or CO but the vanilla Arma 2. EDIT: I tried activating the product key via steam and it tells me the key is invalid. I don't think it is my ports as i can connect to the "host/server". I can play other games just fine. I have tried disabling windows firewall and AVG resident shield and still no luck. If it's my router's firewall what ports do i need to open/allow and where can i go to help figure out how to configure my router for arma 2? If it's my router's firewall what ports do i need to open/allow and where can i go to help figure out how to configure my router for arma 2? ======================================================== I am also having troubles with this issue and a bit more with Arma free along with Arma 2 OA & Arma 2 called "Combined ops". I get to Multi-player Setup page showing screen with no info on anything "Mission, Description, Map, Side, Poll" when I press OK it shows all player in white and as well as my player screen name also and sits there and shows Receiving Mission File (0 Kb / 0 Kb) and just sits there till I have to back out "Esc" or After too long " YOU HAVE BEEN BANNED" pops up. I have tried to download all three variants of Arma 2 and still same issue, and reformatted all hard-drives to start fresh downloads 3 separate times figuring it was a hardware issue or virus's and all of the above. Internet works fine, fire wall is set right, Nat type is set right, just that I was playing on a server like normal when it reset after the round was won like normal, all was well until when this issue occurred A day ago 10/23/2011. So whats the issue, and how do we fix this issue, and the procedure to do so the right way?
EpOcH91 10 Posted October 31, 2011 Still having the issue. Where is the game suppose to ask me for my product key? Would buying a retail copy fix this issue? (I have the Steam version)
.kju 3245 Posted October 31, 2011 @ AceLegionnaire a) Make a new threat for your problem b) Sounds like a router/firewall/AV problem @ EpOcH91 Do you have A2F only? Or also normal A2, OA or CO?

EpOcH91 10 Posted November 5, 2011 Alright well. If i join an empty server, i can select my team (instead of my name being grayed out, its blue) but does nothing when i hit ok. If i join a server with people in it, i get the issue mentioned in this thread. If its a router/port issue what ports do i need to open? here is my rpt http://www.mediafire.com/?n20o0d2o1zucbaj
.kju 3245 Posted November 5, 2011 So you can play it fine in SP/editor? Did you try another router/disable FW/AV? Ports: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_FAQ#What_ports_does_ArmA_use.3F
EpOcH91 10 Posted November 6, 2011 So you can play it fine in SP/editor?Did you try another router/disable FW/AV? Ports: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_FAQ#What_ports_does_ArmA_use.3F Yes i can play single player fine. I bypassed my router and i still have the issue. I disabled AVG and Windows Firewall. I've tried running it as Admin, in different compatibilities, etc. So port 2302 is the only port i should open?
.kju 3245 Posted November 6, 2011 If you don't use VON, yes 2302 should do normally. Did you try to download A2F not via STEAM but the general website download? Do you launch the game as admin?
EpOcH91 10 Posted November 6, 2011 If you don't use VON, yes 2302 should do normally.Did you try to download A2F not via STEAM but the general website download? Do you launch the game as admin? Alright i tried opening the port. Didnt fix it, so i don't think it's a network issue. I did download it via steam, then uninstalled it and installed via a non-steam version. How can i do a clean uninstall of Arma 2 so i can start over. I'm thinking some game files may b corrupt. Yes i did launch the game as admin. I launched Steam as admin i tried running the game in compatibilities for Vista(sp1, sp2). I still cant fix it.
.kju 3245 Posted November 6, 2011 well if you install a2f in a new folder, any older version should not matter create a hashlist of the arma folder with this tool and upload it http://code.kliu.org/hashcheck/
EpOcH91 10 Posted November 8, 2011 (edited) I deleted everything on my PC related to Arma 2. Re-downloaded it. And still it won't work. :( Do you think buying the real game will fix it? EDIT: Do you think it may be AVG interfering? I have disabled AVG but someone was telling me that AVG processes still run in the background.
