Upgrade 1.46 and windows xp

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My friend just bought ofp with the gold upgrade. He wants to play with our clan on the net. We all have ver 1.46 and win98. We installed it together and the game works fine with the gold upgrade which is ver1.30. However if he wants to play with us he needs 1.46, right? Heres the problem when I do the upgrade to 1.46 everything goes fine it verifies the game version then sucessfully upgrades it to ver 1.46. Then when we go to play the game--nothing happens. I double clicked about 10000 times and theres no disk activity-nothing. I thought whats this and I uninstalled the game, deleted the whole folder so there was nothing left. Re-installed the game but this time without the gold upgrade. And then applied the upgrades one after the other till it was 1.46 (exactly the way I did it with my setup) and still--nothing. I even let the cd autorun and clicked play and still nothing. I checked the tasks that were running with ctrl-alt-del and there was no game running. I know the game will run on his system cuz we did it with the gold upgrade it's just something with 1.46 where it wont kick in. Really wierd. So then I again uninstalled it and reinstalled it with the gold upgrade-- just ver1.30 and it worked again. Is this an Xp problem? Can anyone help me.

If i remeber right, the 'Gold edition is bugged', im not shure if that is the case though, but im using 1.46 with XP home edition upgrade, and it works fine, and i have the normal Operation Flashpoint, not the Gold edition. So it might be the Gold edition thats causing those problems, but correct me if im wrong.

I have the same problem with XP Professional.

With all the newest drivers and updates for the system.

It must be something in 1.46..

Somebody please help

Check THIS entry in Avon Lady's Unofficial OFP FAQ.

Also, with the current MP betas, I had problems with the mass storage drivers for the Smartmedia slots in my HP Photosmart printer, as well as the software for my tape drive. I had to uninstall them in order to apply the patch and run the OFP betas.

If you have any unusual drive letters showing up in Explorer (anything that doesn't represent a physical hard disk, CD/DVD drive, or floppy disk), consider disabling or uninstalling the driver for it, at least temporarily to see if it is the cause of the problem.
