paulpjholcomb 10 Posted September 20, 2011 Hey, guys! I downloaded this mission http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=11098 and added the PBO file to Arma 2 -Operation Arrowhead > OperationArrowhead > Missions like it said to, but when I try to find it in-game it doesn't seem to be there. Any idea what might be wrong? Thanks!
ArmAriffic 10 Posted September 20, 2011 C\D \ Program Files \ ArmA 2 \ Missions if there is no Missions folder create one
paulpjholcomb 10 Posted September 20, 2011 There was one, though. :/
Gunter Severloh 4072 Posted September 21, 2011 If its in the missions folder as you said then it should be under scnerios. another way to see is: unpbo the pbo for the mission and move the folder of the extracted mission to your missions folder under this address C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My Documents\ArmA 2\missions and check it out in the editor then hit preview to play it. Just another way to see it.
paulpjholcomb 10 Posted September 21, 2011 I tried that and it's still not working. Ah well, thanks for trying!
Gunter Severloh 4072 Posted September 21, 2011 (edited) Your actually putting the pbo in the wrong folder. Goes into your Arma2 directory, missions folder. Understand? not Arma 2 -Operation Arrowhead > OperationArrowhead > Missions its arma2 >Missions thats it. Edited September 21, 2011 by Gnter Severloh
paulpjholcomb 10 Posted September 21, 2011 Yeah, I tried going to Documents > ArmA 2 > Missions and sticking it there but won't work either. I checked the campaign section, scenarios, and trying to load it in the editor but it just isn't there.
Gunter Severloh 4072 Posted September 21, 2011 Where exactly is your Arma2 directory?, it should be under program files, not under documents. should be along this path: C:/Program files/Arma2/Missions or C:/Program files/Atari/Arma2/Missions
paulpjholcomb 10 Posted September 21, 2011 Well that's weird. I have it saved to my desktop but I think when it was originally installed it installed to Documents by default. (I downloaded it off of Amazon) ---------- Post added at 06:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:53 PM ---------- Do you think that is the problem? Gunter Severloh 4072 Posted September 21, 2011 Be a little more specific, downloaded Arma2OA off of Amazon, your saying? ---------- Post added at 06:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:07 PM ---------- What you need to do is find your directory, and then go from there. paulpjholcomb 10 Posted September 21, 2011 Yeah, on Amazon you can download some games as well as purchase them. I only bought it from there because it was like ten dollars cheaper than Steam. When I go to the Control Panel I don't see ArmA II: OA. Just ARMA II Operation Arrowhead Uninstall.
Gunter Severloh 4072 Posted September 21, 2011 When you installed the game where did you install it to?
paulpjholcomb 10 Posted September 22, 2011 I wasn't really paying attention, so I probably just installed it to whatever the default location was which seems to have been the Documents library.
Gunter Severloh 4072 Posted September 22, 2011 I'd assume the game starts up and you can play, so on that note, find your Arma2 directory wherever you have it, do a search on your computer for Arma2, and see what comes up.
paulpjholcomb 10 Posted September 22, 2011 I'm terribly sorry, but I am very poor in the PC arcane arts... What is it exactly I'm looking for?
Gunter Severloh 4072 Posted September 22, 2011 (edited) Your looking for the main directory for the game, the main directory title is: Arma2 put Arma2 in a search and see what comes up. whats your computer's operating system, do you have windows XP, or vista what? Do you have a shortcut on your desktop to launch the game? Edited September 22, 2011 by Gnter Severloh
paulpjholcomb 10 Posted September 22, 2011 I have Windows 7 which I am pretty new to - I had XP for the longest time before I bought this new computer. So the main directory is the actual application? The actual thing you launch the game from? Thank you so much for you help - I'm sure this is very frustrating and I'm sure you have better things to be doing. Thank you so much for your help.
Gunter Severloh 4072 Posted September 22, 2011 Im not familiar with win 7 I have xp myself, but the main directory is basically a folde3r with all the files in it, the application (exe) is in the directory. What you can do is use your desktop shortcut if you have one, right click it go to properties, and at the bottom you should see a button that says find target, and click it and it should take you right to the application and then you'll have the address to your folder. The other way is to look at the shortcuts target line and look at the address that way and then open the folders accordingly, but you need the Arma2 folder. Just to give you an example: Heres my target line for the stock game itself, and in it it shows where my files are: E:\Games\Arma2\arma2oa.exe -nosplash -nointro -mod=@CBA Arma2 is directory folder arma2oa.exe is the application which runs the game. Your shortcut is basically a link to the application. I gtg (work) I'll be back in the morning around 6am to see how you come along. Til then find that directory! paulpjholcomb 10 Posted September 22, 2011 Alright, will do! ---------- Post added at 09:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:25 PM ---------- I'm kinda confused. The folder in Documents has a file called ArmA 2. When I click on it it I can see Missions, Saved, UserSaved, ArmA2OA.cfg, and my profile. The one saved to my desktop is titled ArmA 2- Operation Arrowhead. When I click on it I see the Data, DirectX, and OperationArrowhead folders. There are also a ton of Autorun, readme, and setup things there. I'm really not sure what I did when I was installing this, but something doesn't seem quite right.
