Kilel 10 Posted September 7, 2011 (edited) Whenever I play ArmA 2 (free, because I'm a cheap bastard and my computer would sprout legs and kick my teeth in if I were on the full version) I have this problem with..... the environment I guess... The sky is replaced with this obnoxiously loud, white light that will creep over the ground if I zoom in with a sniper scope. Granted, my computer is barely powerful enough to play the game in the first place and I don't meet all of the minimum specs... In fact I'm amazed I can run the game as decently as I can in the first place. Here's a screencap of my issue: I'm running an nVidia GeForce 6150 LE (The computer is five years old and stock, cut me some slack :( ) Driver version is 280.26 (256 megs) I have less than a Gig of RAM on my Hard Drive If you need more info, let me know. EDIT: The game is pretty playable... this light is just driving me up a wall.. I was using this hill as a sniper point with the mission editor to pass the time while my computer defragmented some stuff and this is covering up the guys I'm shooting... MavericK96 0 Posted September 7, 2011 What are your settings? Maybe try turning off Post Processing if it's on? It looks like the HDR is going nuts for some reason.
[frl]myke 14 Posted September 7, 2011 As you already stated yourself your PC is quite old (in gaming terms) and even 5 years back this GPU was very low end. I do believe (read: wild guess) that the GPU can't handle the fog rendering correctly (alpha blending it is called IIRC) which results in this bright white stuff. One way to check if this could be related is to change viewdistance up/down and see if the white parts directly react on these changes. If this is the case, either you have to life with it or you upgrade your graphic card (which i would personally recommend).

This doesn't help, unfortunately. EDIT: When I said this doesn't help, I mean.... the flare is gone, but I get black-modeled; The ground/objects are pitch black. EDIT2: If I do this and go to the pause menu, I don't get black modeled, but it goes right back whenever I tweak the settings or go back into gameplay. EDIT3: Well, made some progress. If I take it off in the scenario editor, I don't get the issue or the black models. @GLTMyke: I tried fiddling with the view distance. No such luck. MavericK96 0 Posted September 8, 2011 Yeah, I think you're going to have to upgrade to play this game. Your machine technically doesn't even meet the minimum specifications for ArmA2, though being the Free version you are probably just barely getting away with it because of the low-res textures/models.
