Hellfire12 0 Posted May 30, 2002 First the specs: xp pro 512mb dual tyan ATI AIW 8500 128mb Next I have two installations of OFP, one which has been on this machine for a few months and has run.... Well as good as one could expect from OFP. I just recently purchased the ATI video card and now the primary installation studders/stops momentarily during play. Ok I'm thinking I will see if a fresh installation will alleviate the problem since I changed video card in mid stream. I save the current installation as OFP_old and run a new installation with the Gold pack and the 1.46 patch. Now when I start opf I get inverted triangles for everyplace there should be a video item like the Codemasters opening screen is nothing but triangles and the setup screen is all triangles were things like Quit, Multiplay, Single Mission etc are located. I can rename OFP directory to OFP_new and rename the old directory back to OFP it runs fine except for the studder/stop. Does anyone know of fixes for either of these problems? Mister Frag 0 Posted May 30, 2002 One well-known problem is that if you ever had a joystick configured in DirectX, but it isn't plugged in now, the system will pause briefly every few seconds while the drivers poll for the joystick. If that doesn't solve the problem, try browsing The Avon Lady's OFP FAQ to see if you can find anything there.
Hellfire12 0 Posted May 31, 2002 Well I almost thought that was it. It does seem to be a little better now but I still get some pauses. Having a lot of problems in XP so I am reinstalling OS and maybe all my woes will disappear. Any other ATI users out there? Would like to here about your experiences with ATI 8500 and OFP. Hellfire12 0 Posted May 31, 2002 Oops! Troubleshooting FAQ needs to come before the troubleshooting forum. This might be the cause. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....;t=2813
