Shredmanclapacs 10 Posted July 27, 2011 Basic Info: I bought the ArmA combined ops disc version a while back. I still have the case and that confirmation code on the manual. The story is, my friend didn't know my laptop was in my bag and he threw it down the stairs to me. The screen got destroyed and the fan broke and a lot of the plastic side parts snapped off. Luckily, my hard drive was fine. I simply plugged in an external monitor and put all my stuff on an external hard drive. My question is, i only have the OA disc as i think i lost the ArmA 2 disc. I still have the confirm code: Will i be able to simply drag and drop all my arma files from the external hard drive to my new laptop and play arma 2 like normal? ---------- Post added at 09:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:25 AM ---------- other question is... if that won't work, will i have to go and buy the arma 2 disc all over again to play arma combined ops? or is there some way i can do it with just my confirm code and the arma OA disc
dmarkwick 261 Posted July 27, 2011 You should be able to if you also save the registry entries for the games you wish to transfer. And the MyDocs/ArmA2 folder too.
Shredmanclapacs 10 Posted July 27, 2011 are the registry entries the files in "Program Files/Bohemia Interactive" ?
dmarkwick 261 Posted July 27, 2011 Unfortunately not. If you don't know what registry entries are, you're most probably going to need a new ArmA2 install I'm afraid. Grabbing the registry entries from a non-booted HD will be tricky I expect. I've never done it anyway. I imagine the best way to do it is to somehow boot up a machine with the laptop's HD. dmarkwick 261 Posted July 27, 2011 Can you borrow a friend's copy? If you have your own key there should be no problem with that.
Shredmanclapacs 10 Posted July 27, 2011 that could possibly work if i can find a friend with arma 2.... or i might just have to use regular OA for the time being
