Prone fail! fix?

Recommended Posts

You can still get shot crouching in front of that...i see nothing wrong with the AI there, most likely they were going to crouch or stand to shoot (as the AI always does).

Unless they were actually shooting at the wall while prone, there is no issue.

yea! but still it looks too stupid when you shooting at the enemy and there all just prone when there is cover like house and much more.

Wrong forum section sweety.

I recall reading from a military manual somewhere that they actually recommended hiding in grass over a bush or tree because they are less obvious..wether that is being applied here or not who knows.

Solid cover on the other hand is strange to see them just ignoring but hey I've seen people do the same in multiplayer games hehehe...

Um, no it isn't, i've done this many a time when someone decided my head looked like a nice target and started firing. Those walls don't offer the best cover unless prone.

In the real world you'd either cround further over your knees or sit back against the wall (armchair general here, dunno what would actually happen), in Arma the only way to do it is to go prone.

With PVP anims you'd turn sideways prone or again crouch, which is an awesome mod btw.

No, AI suck at defending cover. I hear that their capability to use the class chest-high wall has varied with patches. They'll go prone even if they're in a specially-designed bunker where you're supposed to stand and fire through the apertures.

Chances are it was omething like a marine sniper manual about using the ghillie suit, I can't recall, do you know what mode they were in? attack, defending, cautious etc?

I never referred to the AI in that post, all i said was that going prone is the only function to take full cover behind that wall, and that i would do that myself, thereby negating your assertion that the AI is stupid for taking that action.

I'm not the one who said they sucked. Are you suggesting then lower walls that would be more level when prone, like sandbags?

That is true and i apologise.

All i'm suggesting is that in the given examples going prone would be a good idea if being shot at, since it would then cover your entire body rather than just half.

True, but the given example is not the problem, it's only an example that demonstrates the AI's lack of capability to perform correctly in situations where kneeling and shooting would be advisable.

Another factor would be who is shooting who. If the guy on the ground shot first, then the AI would run to cover and then sort out what to do from there. The guy in the grass is prone, shooting and covered slightly so hes a harder target, logically i'd see the AI doing what they did then shooting back as the best course of action.
