So, some geeza said the p51 won world war 2.. I made a topic stating that the Lancaster actually played a bigger part in the European Air war compared to the B17's and P51's.

So, all the p51 lovers there accuse the RAF of bombing civilians only and not going after strategic targets. Sure, the RAF may have bombed civilians but they probably did more damage strategically than the 8TH AF too. They eventually lock the thread because of so many flaming posts.

People like that really pi$$ me off.

Chicken, that's no different than people here getting into flame wars over which tank is better. People usually take the side of their country's tank or plane or whatever. It's like comparing apples to oranges, different pieces of equipment have their niches. Trying to compare Merkavas, Leopard 2's, Challenger 2's, T-80's, and Abrahms tanks is stupid if you ask me.

The same goes for the P-51 and the Spitfire. The Spit was an excellent spot interceptor, the P-51 was an excellent long range bomber escort. If the planes were to face each other in a fight, it would all come down to pilot skill.

Well...whatever....
