dialektiikka 10 Posted May 6, 2011 Just skimmed the interview at ticali.cz. My grasp of Czech is rudimentary at best, but this caught my attention: "Mapa má gigantických 120x120km a dokonale si tady užijete volnosti létánÃ. JistÄ› na ni bude umÃstÄ›no nÄ›kolik misà a poÄÃtá se s jejÃm využitÃm pÅ™edevÅ¡Ãm v multiplayeru. Transl: [The Asian?] map is a gigantic 120x120km... most likely it will be used in many missions, as well as being available for multiplayer. A 14 400 km2 map with ArmaII detail??!! To fly helicopters in... The mind boggles... 8P Could the devs please, please elaborate a bit? What's the cell size on that? Was it build with Visitor3? Here you can read full Deadfast translation http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1909052&postcount=272 . In preview it's mentioned: The terrain is again modeled after satellite imagery but using a little different technology this time with a better optimization. First of all, the terrain detail isn’t equal with what you can see in ArmA 2. Should you get closer to the ground you will notice it isn’t as smoothed and you will notice many sharp edges. T terrain detail of the Seattle map is two times less detailed than Chernarus from ArmA 2, for example, which is of course something you won’t notice from the air. On top of that the new “normal map†effect is applied, thanks to which the terrain looks more plastic than it actually is.Simply this terrain isn’t made for infantry hiding in the bushes but rather for some good flying. A higher amount of detail will be present only in the area surrounding your base where you can walk around. and from available screenshots you can see that not all street are full of buildings , but still it's WIP, we will se.
