How do i install mods and add-ons?

Hi folks,

I am wanting to know the ins and outs of installing mods and addons for OFP.

I see that there are lots of mods and addons available for OFP but I don't know how to install/play the game with them.

Is there a FAQ which explains all this?

How can you tell if when you install a 3rd party addon/mod, that the whole game will be affected or whether the game loads up the mods/addons only when you want them to?

I see that there are some uniform addons for OFP.  Does installing these addons affect the whole game?

Ideally I would like to keep my original OFP configuration untouched, but be able to play modded OFP via the in game menu.

well, there is only 1 mod at the moment and thats desert storm. But for a normal addon which is what i think u r after u simply put the .pbo file into the addons directory in your main operationflashpoint folder. This will not affect ur game at all. All it will do is put an extra unit in your mission editors directory giving u the option to put it into ur missions.

generally the addons go into the " addon folder " in opflash directory, they cause no change to the game itself but with mission editing then u can play around with them or if somone creates a mission needing these addons u will use them.

Generally most addons etc come with a readme in the zipfile it should tell you where to extract the stuff.

I just added an item to The FAQ earlier today about "addons". You've gotten most of the answers but you can read the item by searching The FAQ for "addons".
