Bad pain screams!

Recommended Posts

Hello again!

I've been updating A2/OA, and adding some mods, and now I have these annoying 'pain' screams frequently coming from my squadmates and myself... but I'm not sure which mod/update is responsible.

Obviously, it's hard to write a description as to what the samples are that would be of any use... but what I can tell you is this:

-Guy says 'F**K' now

-Frequent screams when injured

-Recently updated A2 and OA to latest patches

-Recently installed JSRS sound mod and WarFX mod

So, I'm suspecting it's either the JSRS mod, or part of the A2/OA update.

Does it sound familiar to anyone? (by that, I mean does anyone know if, say, JSRS includes someone saying 'F**k', and lots of screaming when you are injured?

I'm removing/adding mods to see if I can isolate which one it is, but figured I'd ask...

If it IS JSRS, is there any way I can remove just those elements? I didn't notice any 'voice' notes in the version log, so I'm thinking it may be considered 'environment'?

Any help is appreciated! I'd love to keep all the mods, but (ideally) get rid of just those elements, as they are annoying (...screams are too frequent, for example).

Thanks...

Hey ladlon.

theres a few mods that would possibly do that but to name the few and their features

heres all the ones I know of that could possibly add to this:

* Dynamic Shouts

by SARMAT Studio

Description:

Gives possibility to characters create different sounds in fight. Soliders will say when enemy shoot on them,

they injured or killed , and kills enemy or simply saw under their legs grenade.

Task of the mod is to fill mission reality and feeling of combat .Now you can hear ,

what is going around you, what happens with your teammates or with enemy at the moment.

Features:

- Adds 3 new modules, you can find them in Game Logic => Modules.

- Shouts with the wounded character

- Shouts when the character fires a grenade launcher or throws grenades

- Shouts when a character dies

- 9 voices for BLUFOR and OPFOR, and 3 voices for Resistance.

The main feature - the character is superimposed on his own voice, now one and the

same person will not cry in different voices.

Usage in Game

Adds 3 new modules, you can find them in Game Logic => Modules.

Activation is easy-you need only put correct modul in mission it’s all!

Every module corresponds to each side:

SAR krik USA

SAR krik Russia

SAR krik Resistance

Included .pbo files:

sar_krik.pbo

* Dynamic Sound AI (RUG DSAI)

by Wolfrug and Sickboy

Description:

It gives your and the enemies AI a voice beyond the stale radio messages

Features:

* Ready made scripts for Dynamic Sound AI that is easily modifiable by the end-user.

* Your AI will shout curses at the enemy, tell you when they're reloading, throwing a grenade, engaging,

when they're hurt, fleeing or when they've scored a big kill! And much more.

* Works in both SP, client-side MP and server-side MP

* Features English, Arab, Russian and Spanish voices by default

* Can assign voices to all sides (BLUFOR, OPFOR, Independent, Civilian, SideEnemy)

* Easily activated/deactived by mission makers, addon makers or server admins as required, using

global variables and config entries (see below for more information)

* Auto-initialization using CBA (fully CBA compatible)

Included .pbo files:

RUG_DSAIRUS.pbo

RUG_DSAISPA.pbo

RUG_DSAIArab.pbo

RUG_DSAIGen.pbo

RUG_DSAIENG.pbo

RUG_DSAI.pbo

Lets not forget SLX, SLX has a dialogue file in it that will make

AI say stuff as well as curse and possibly scream.

you recognize any of theose pbos, look in your mods for those pbos.

As for JRS best to ask him on his release thread.

Hello again, Gunter Severloh!

Yes, it might be SLX, as I have that installed as well.

I don't imagine it's WarFX, as I don't think that affects the audio in any way.

I just figured it MIGHT be JSRS, only because I installed that recently (and that screaming wasn't there previously).

I just posted here, as I didn't know for sure what mod it might be, so I kept it to the 'general' area, as it may very well have been an update in the A2/OA patch as well, for all I know.

Okay, I'll look into SLX, as well as JSRS.

WarFX has nothing to do with AI saying things, thats mostly particles and effects.

For SLX you want to find the slx_dialogue.pbo in your SLX addons folder, remove that and you will remove the cursing.

Dont forget its Bisign as well.

Confirmed! It is SLX that is providing both those things. I just saw a YouTube vid of it.

Excellent!

When you have mods you are using it might be a good idea in the future to see how an individual mod works or runs

before you start using it with other mods, that way if theres a feature you dont care for you can either disable it if possible or remove it.

Most of your mods have readmes that explain or list the features that the mod has, a mod like SLX is good for

that where it lists the Pbo files and then for each pbo a description of what they do and if their is anything that is

dependant on it if you remove one.

In the future take the time to review the readme of a mod before you install it, and after too when you have checked it out,

they are there to inform you about the mod.

Glad you got it straightened out. :)

Ya, it wasn't that I didn't like the features of the mod... just how it was done. The screaming was just too frequent and annoying, and it didn't mention 'guy says F**k quite a bit' and 'injured guys scream continually' in the ReadMe.

Half the confusion was that I wasn't sure if these unwanted elements were part of the Arma2/OA patch update. The other confusing aspect was that I had SLX installed LONG ago, and the screaming and swearing only appeared RECENTLY, so I initially didn't supect it was SLX. For some reason, it seems it only just 'kicked in' recently... perhaps as a result of a recent A2/OA patch update making SLX compatible or active, when it wasn't previously.
