Adding/Installing missions please help.

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Reticently got Arma 2: CO and need some help installing missions made by community. I looked everywhere but couldn't find a straight answer even here.

After I download single and/or coop mission .pbo files where do I put them and how do I enable them in game?

I tried following Armaholic.com "How to install and launch addons" but nothing works. Also tried putting .pbo files in Arma2/Missions folder still nothing works.

Appreciate your help!

Cheers

Single player pbo files will need to go into the missions folder in your main directory and as avengerzx said go Scenarios in

sp mode and you should find the "title" of the mission you downloaded.

However coops are considered mp mission which will need to go into your mp missions folder, now you can still play these but the

way to do it is o into mp and host a new server, and pick the island the mission is on, then find the mission and run it, if you have

friends that want to play then have em join you, or have them host the mission.

I tried following Armaholic.com "How to install and launch addons" but nothing works. Also tried putting .pbo files in

Arma2/Missions folder still nothing works.

A mission in one sense is not an addon, on the other hand it is an addon based on what it does. For the pbo (addon) for missions

they will go to your missions folder for sp and mp missions folder for mp.

The other "type" of addon are things you can add to your sp game or even mp game, and this is mostly for those that build their

own missions in the sp or mp editors, but to use the addons you will need to create what is called a mod folder which is pretty simple.

Example:

Lets say you wanted a addon of a car that you seen on Armaholic, and wanted to play with it in the game,

heres what you do:

1. download the addon, and extract it

2. create a folder and name it @cars

3. inside the @cars folder create a folder that is called addons

Let me explain how this works.

The @ sign has real no significance other then to distinquish the folder you have it on as a mod, it basically tells you

that a certain folder is a mod like the @cars example above.

You can create any folder you wish and title it based on whatever the content of addons your using.

in the mod folder itself there must always be a folder that is labled addons and dont misspell it!

So a simple mod folder consists of the @ sign

a title of your mod, and inside the folder an folder labled addons.

lets get back to the above:

So you got a mod folder labled @cars

4. move the pbo's for the cars to the addons folder of your new mod.

5. Move the @cars folder to your main Arma2 directory

After this is all done you need for the game to be able to read the mod, and how to do this is through

your desktop shortcut.

Setup a Shortcut:

1. create a shortcut or use and existing one, and right click it

2. go to properties and go to where it says target at the top

3. In the box add this code after the exe -mod=@CBA;CBA_A2;@cars

Note CBa is required for most mods.

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=6231

@CBA alone for OA and CO (combined Ops -->Arma2 and OA)

@CBA_A2 with @CBA for Arma2 only

Now for the application.

if you have your shortcut setup, you want to get into the game, go to the sp editor, pick a map and for cars,

it would be under civilians and then cars.

the other way to see your car ingame via the editor is to place a player and then double click on the map again to

insert a unit and then go to empty under the units, top left, and go to cars, and find the car you downloaded,

place the car, save your game, hit preview, and there it is.

Seems like alot of work for a new player to the game, but it is fairly simple.

Hopefully all the above didn't confuse anyone, and if anything dont hesitate to ask questions for this process.

As for the editor to learn more then go here:

Hope that helps.
