celery 8 Posted January 4, 2011 I'm planning a manhunt mission for Operation Arrowhead called Catch the Colonel. It will take place in Zargabad and the goal of the US side is to catch a player-controlled Colonel Aziz who is armed with a revolver and the hearts of the people in the city. The manhunt concept dates back to OFP times but I'll try to upgrade it while keeping it as simple as possible to avoid confusion or scaring first-timers. My idea is that Aziz's ultimate goal is to escape the city altogether but first he has to accomplish two or three tasks around Zargabad. Aziz will have a headstart in score while the US will get points over time. Unless the US has more points than Aziz, killing the Colonel will grant him a martyrdom victory, so capturing him alive is the preferred method. Capturing Aziz would require shooting his legs or hitting him with a less-lethal GL slug (flare) and arresting him. Aziz is able to call pedestrians to his aid, converting them into armed insurgents ready to fight the US. Aziz will gain points for: - Accomplishing tasks (2000-3000) - Killing US soldiers (200) The US will gain points for: - Time (scaled to player amount) - Killing insurgents (200) - Capturing Aziz (10000) The US will lose points for: - Killing unarmed pedestrians (1000) - Losing men (100) - Losing vehicles (200-1000, dependant on vehicle) Aziz victory conditions: Total - complete the tasks and escape from Zargabad Martyrdom - Get killed by the US while having a higher score Minor - Get captured by the US, still ending up with a higher score (requires multiple mistakes on the US side) US victory conditions Perfect - Capture Aziz before he gains points or the US loses any Major - Capture Aziz, ending up with a higher score Minor - Kill Aziz when he has less score than the US, or he dies of his own accord The US would gain access to more vehicles in their base in the mosque grounds as the accumulated US and Aziz' score increases. Aziz will have a distance indicator to the nearest US soldier to make sneaking around easier and the US could have a generalized (radius 50-100 m), 5 minute old location of their prey on the map.
