game freezes when shooting down or crashing helicopters

Recommended Posts

so i recently patched up from v 1.52 to 1.57 (im in iraq and it took 6 hrs to download it, thats why ive avoided patching the game until now).

well ever since i patched the game, every time i either A) shoot down a helicopter or B) am flying a helicopter and crash it, the game just locks up. is anybody else having this issue and if so anyone figure out how to fix it? im running OA: combined ops without the BAF or PMC expansions if that makes any difference?

I'm not having that *exact* problem, however I have been experiencing frequent freezes (not CTDs) where I can still hear some of the other players on VON (but not all) and they cannot hear me. The ArmaA2OA.exe process always indicates a "Not Responding" state and a CPU usage of 13%. This happens sporadically within either 5 mins to an hour of playing.

CPU: i950

GPU: 580GTX

Running A2 CO (BAF + PMC) v1.57

i havent played online, this is just with messing around in the mission editor or in the armory. and it doesnt matter how long ive been playing. i could set up a mission within 30 seconds of starting the game and it will do it. its really frustrating.

well.....figured it out. ran the game with no mods and it didnt do it. ran the game with all my mods EXCEPT SLX mod, and it was fine. tried it again with SLX enabled and boom....frozen. kinda sucks cuz i liked the SLX mod

after going on the SLX thread, there are a bunch of people haveing this issue. removing the SLX_VehicleEffects PBO and bisign from the mod. kind of a bummer since i liked how the vehicles leaked fuel and caught on fire mid flight but were still flyable. hopefully the SLX mod creator can fix this
