Satchel 0 Posted May 8, 2002 How about you take any helicopter, land in on the water surface and turn the engines off...makes a first class u-boat simulation, in addition it can fly (next generation u-boats). If you want to surface again just turn engines on. Replace the hellfires on the Apache for example with Scuds and it even has ballistic missiles.
elendil004 0 Posted May 9, 2002 What is with some of you people. I'm pretty sure free speech is still in effect. The person who suggests the submarine has just as much right as the person who suggests a tank, or for that matter a chicken that is 50't tall and has lasers. Or a battle mech. Unless sombody is forcing YOU to make the mod, at gunpoint, dont bitch about it. A Sub, and a c5 would be great just for the background, so would a freaking chicken, its a very open game, people can do anything they want with it.

mads bahrt 0 Posted May 9, 2002 Regarding the usefullness of a submarine i would like to draw the attention to USS Perch, a 2.WW -era dieselelectric submarine which was converted to support, transport and deliver special forceson raids and recon missionson the enemy coast. It served both during the Korean war and the vietnam war. In Korea 125 Royal Marines operated from it, blowing up the railway running along the coast. In a similar pattern it is still standard operating procedure for seaborne special operation units (SEAL, SBS etc.) to operate from submarines. Another matter in which a submarine would be of use is as a recon platform. One of the major uses of submarines is their ability to stay undetected and observe. LordZach 0 Posted May 9, 2002 exactly, stay undetected. so, i ask, what is the point of making an object underwater that you can't see or use? if you want to launch SEALs can't you just make a zodiac?
BlackDeath 0 Posted May 9, 2002 do you people turn every fucking post into a argument? im just wondering.
dkraver 1 Posted May 9, 2002 One could be made for scenerie with a cargo hold for 12-20 people so you could make it a starting point for spec ops mission. And maybe even make it so when you where on the deck of it, it would have a option " Deploy Zodiac" or something like that, and a zodiac would pop up beside it. So you would start in the cargo hold get out on the deck and down into the zodiac. But someone would also have to make that zodiac. And the sub should still have a "driver" so it could move. But i dont see a reason why to have a sub for battle reasons.
