chiefredcloud 10 Posted November 16, 2010 A little more background might help here. Our Clan server always runs Battle Eye (BE right) and this is what my firend wants to access but ....... See the above. Now what someone has recommended to me is this: 1. Install game (again if you have to) ArmA 2 (from DVD) 2. Install OS (from STEAM) 3. Use the STEAM version of Combined Arms to patch it up. Does this sound good?
Dwarden 1125 Posted November 16, 2010 not complete :) 1a. update ARMA 2 to 1.08 i assume 2. means install OA on STEAM 2a. use the BE installer from BE sticky ... (first url in first post) http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=109915 3. STEAM is not patching anything up for A2:CO (e.g. will not patch your retail ARMA 2 to 1.08) STEAM will just run OA in way it loads ARMA 2 and works in A2:CO mode

Nec 10 Posted November 16, 2010 once again BI has released a patch that knackers my game play up. i have recently got my game working on Combined operations using the -mod=co thing that i has to find from somwhere els but from not from the makers of the game. anyway thats another story but after i did do it i have managed to have a few weeks of uninterupted gameplay. Now all the servers are moving over to the new patch 1.55 and so forcing me to do the same if i want to carry playing online. So i DL the patch and installed it. Know when i try and play on a online server i just keep getting kicked before i even get to the setup screen. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game starting each section so the regestry can log the game ( More crap they dont tell you about the disjointed game) and that has not worked either (that another 2 houres i wont get back.) does anyone at BI know what going on why am i getting kicked from all the servers. does BI test any of these patches before they release them on the disgruntled CUSTOMERS. remember BI we are your CUSTOMERS and we want to use the product that we have paid for. I work hard during the week and want to relax with some war when i have a weekend off LOL but this weekend has been full of me installing and reading the forums and trying to find people that actually know what the hell you have done this time. What am i supposed to do to get this to work? do i have to put more obscure commands in my target line to allow me to play or maybe i need to burn a jostick and pray to the gods of the digital church what is the problem. Does BI test any of their game patches and if so why is this game so disjointed. if i was a laymen i would have never been online at all. and i know what your would say "well we dont support online but the one player game is so lame it aint worth using. this game is only so good because players make mods. Maybe its about time BI made a reseptical that mods could be uploaded and if a player dosent have a patch or a mod to synchronize it with the server you are trying to play the game would automatically contact the receptical and download the bits and put them in the correct place. No Fuss. why has this not been done it cant be that hard instead players are just resigned to the fact that even though the game is good they will have to put up with it fucking up every so on and have to work it out between themselves how to fix it. WHY IS IT KICKING ME FROM THE GAME BEFORE I GET TO THE TROOP SETUP PAGE WHEN I WANT TO PLAY ONLINE. ---------- Post added at 08:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:04 PM ---------- i just wanted to add if i asked for a refund as i can not use the game for the purposes i purchased it for i expect that i would not receive a reply. COME ON BI:mad: Try to download BAF Hotfix again from Arma 2 Homepage, dont use the mirror links in the middle of page, i couldnt fix it with those, use the download link at the bottom of page....that should solve your connection problem. Old Skool the same for you, try this solution.
enforcer1975 0 Posted November 23, 2010 My game also lost performance in a noticable way OA Benchmark went down from 32 to 24 fps, warfare BE is unplayable for me with lots of units around me since 1.55, close proximity LOD switching on buildings is very prominent again, almost looks like draw distance was reduced back to ArmA 1.01 level. The light green leafy trees on chernarus now often need 2-3 second to be visible when turning around, resulting in whole forrest appearing out of nothing at 500meters. I have everything on high exept AA and PP off. viewdistance 3000 meters. the game ran very fine in version 1.54 and beta 75630...the trouble started with 75858 and obviously made it into patch but without the stability issues that 75858 had. Do you have vsync activated? I tried the game with vsync out of curiosity because i have the same problems with Warfare and in the editor ( causing the game to stutter and texture problems ). Obviously it couldn't be my HDD because i was running the game on a very fast SSD and it worked like a charm before the patch, never had any texture pop-ups ever. End of the story, the game ran a lot smoother with vsync on and no more texture popping up when i was turning around. I still have a stiff neck from turning my head all the way to the left and right to reproduce it. Going to try it in Warfare this moment.
Vyper_JG54 10 Posted November 23, 2010 I'm very new to Arma, only playing with some friends for just other a month. While I had good performance with 1.54, I seem (as well as all of my squadmates) to have the same LOD/rendering issues since the patch as what I'm seeing here. Since about half of our players are on steam, we've decided not to re-install our games and server back to 1.54. I have noticed, and am wondering, that the view distance and the render distance do not match. If I have view distance set to 3000m, things...vehicles, tress, ect, only render at approx. 1600m. If I set view distance to 5000m, I remain at seeing things a little more than half, at about 2700m. Anyone else see this?
enforcer1975 0 Posted November 24, 2010 That's completly normal that objects only appear on half the set distance. I don't know why it is so, it's quite stupid. Naturally one would expect to see object to the full distance. There is an addon solving this problem but it looks awkward if you see objects clear but the environment around it isn't properly rendered.
