LordZach 0 Posted May 6, 2002 Mother: Game sucked son in </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">THE LAWSUIT John B. Thompson, a Miami-based attorney who has been involved in a host of major cases, including the 2 Live Crew federal obscenity trial, plans legal action against Sony. His wife is a native of Hudson. He learned of Shawn's death from his in-laws and contacted Woolley. "(EverQuest) was designed to be as addictive as possible," Thompson said. "And there was a failure to warn. There are dangers and they know there are dangers." In a letter to Sony CEO Howard Stringer April 9, Thompson told of Shawn's suicide and of cases of addiction to the game, and he requested information about the game and Shawn's account. Sony, citing its privacy policy, has declined to comply. <span id='postcolor'> how dare they make a game people want to play. Â
Akira 0 Posted May 6, 2002 Should make people take an IQ, and personality test before they can buy a game. And if you live in a trailer you are automatically declined...... Swear....One person out of millions freaks out and suddenly the game is the problem. Just another example of people shifting blame and refusing to take responsibility for their own actions and decisions. I'm guessing this guy had trouble LONG before Everquest.... LordZach 0 Posted May 6, 2002 yeah obviously this guy has had addiction problems before that went untreated, probably either drugs or alcohol, judging by picture i don't think sexual addiction is a possibility.
Major Fubar 0 Posted May 6, 2002 If the search function of the forum worked I'd look up my comments in the topic Wobble started about this when the guy died, but I'll just summarize. The family are looking for a quick blame, instead of looking for the real problem. I also think money is playing a role, as the family probaly wants "compensation". This is so stupid. What next, if someone becomes obsessive over chess and kills themselves, do we ban that too?

Major Fubar 0 Posted May 6, 2002 No man, I wasn't criticizing, and Wobble's thread ended up WAY off the original topic.

WKK Gimbal 0 Posted May 6, 2002 My oppinion is the same as regarding immoral TV shows: If it damage the child, it's the parent's fault. They should have kept an eye on what the kid was watching.
