Really low texture quality on close textures

Recommended Posts

I have the game maxed out on a 5970 and Core i7 920 @3.5Ghz with Hyperthreading disabled.

However, I notice that in OA, close-up textures that should normally be at their max detail are at a really low detail level. My graphics card isn't overheating, so what could be the cause of this?

Any help is appreciated.

10.8 with 10.8a application profiles.

I was excited to learn that they've finally added Crossfire support for OA, so thats why I'm using these.

I have the same problem. It started with 10.8 drivers and continuing with 10.9s. This is with ATI 4870X2.

If you stare the ground in front of you for a few seconds, the textures shift from low LOD to high. This also happens with soldier body and face textures.

Seems that the LOD (level of detail) switching is not working as intended with latest ATI drivers and particularly with Crossfire configurations. Many here have suggested to use 10.4 drivers to fix the problem - I haven't personally tried that.

Maybe it is worth trying though - and you can temporarily enable the Crossfire functionality by renaming the "arma2oa.exe" to "arma2.exe". Other solution could be to install the 10.4 drivers and all the application profiles that have been released after that - dunno if that works though. Previous application profiles can be downloaded for example from here: http://www.rage3d.com/cap/

This seems more like a driver issue than an issue with the game, and since Arma2 isn't really that much of a "mainstream game", I'll doubt that ATI is going to fix it. But we'll see.

Also remember to report the issue to AMD, using this form: http://www.amdsurveys.com/se.ashx?s=5A1E27D27E29B0E3 The more reports they get the more likely it is for the problem to get fixed in future driver revisions.

The similiar problems are discussed also here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=106543

I'm having an ATI HD4872x2 and 10.4 driver, and everyting's working nicely on high settings (apart PP set to low.). Catalyst AI enabled.

One lesson though : never upgrade your drivers as long as you're satisfied with the one being installed.
