Is there a feature of Counter Battery System for artillery?

Recommended Posts

Is there a feature to detect the probable artillery position of enemies after being attacked? Such as Counter Battery Radar or something others?

Since BIS add the artillery computer in 1.54, I feel it can be more similar to the RTS game Blitzkrieg series. In that game, every kind of artillery has its fire range which has realize in ARMA2. But there is another feature, detecting the enemy fire probable position after being attacked, and show it on the map.

I've asked some friends who always play CTI how they find where the enemy artillery fire comes from. They said it must need enough battlefield experience by player themselves. But the morden army has adopted some kinds of Counter Battery System or Counter-mortar System, such as AN/TPQ-36 & TPQ-37 radar in US Army and LCMR and so on.

I think BIS can add the CBS (Counter Battery System) function in the future version. It must can improve the enjoyment of artillery.

Should be fairly simple, could probably be done with a script, using the "Artillery Radar" model that's used in Warfare.

If it CAN be easily done, it should be in the next patch.

The ECHO addon already supports counter-battery if your spotters locate it. It prioritises targets, all other things being equal - enemy arty gets nailed first.

Otherwise, adding some logic to detect incoming shells and work it back to the enemy battery like Darkhorse 1-6 said would be the way to go. Only trick is to simulate the uncertainty in location.
