Psilocybe 3 Posted August 14, 2010 Hi guys, When ARMA2 was released, i jumped the gun and got myself the german version, which was fine until recent times where my English language mod files no longer work. I could just buy another copy of ARMA2 but with O:A out and being marketted as a standalone expansion I am thinking of taking that route. Now, im led to believe that I can somewhat integrate my copy of ARMA2 with O:A, will the language versions conflict or is it just a case of using my CD key from ARMA2. Lastly, ive heard that im better off not getting O:A off STEAM, im very much looking forward to using a lot of mods for this game, is STEAM going to make this hard for me or ruin my gaming experience? If this is the case, i will opt against the ease of access that STEAM grants me. Cheers Royal Aus Infantry.
pchaxor 0 Posted August 14, 2010 If you have the cash, get Combined OPS Retail. I have Steam version of both and regret it. I am still waiting for them to resolve the steam launcher issues and EXPANSIONS button in the main menu. I feel I paid too much for the steam version with all the stupid complicated issues it has. rediculous.
Psilocybe 3 Posted August 14, 2010 Thanks for the reply bro, I was already of the mind to steer clear of it on STEAM, but thats enough to get me to just retail it. Fingers crossed they got in on a 1/2 price table :P
pchaxor 0 Posted August 14, 2010 Amazon has Combined Ops for $42.99 Free Super Saver shipping. (5-9 days) I won't spam the link ... easy to find.
svo 10 Posted August 14, 2010 Amazon has Combined Ops for $42.99Free Super Saver shipping. (5-9 days) I won't spam the link ... easy to find. A while back I got my bro-in-law and I steam Arma2. It worked great and never had problems. However, I found that the standalone cost nearly as much as combined ops so I took the amazon route for both of us, plus we would both have disks. I found one for $37 combined ops. I thought that was cheap enough I even splurged on expedited shipping for him. Kinda funny that I've now bought six Arma games in the last 6 months. But if you love playing something you gotta go for it.
Grizzle 0 Posted August 14, 2010 ... Completely off topic, but do you play TF2 under the name SVO too?
Psilocybe 3 Posted August 15, 2010 Bit the bullet and bought arrowhead from eb games, installed it, low and behold in my start menus I see the name arma: combined operarations! Rejoice! Fired it up for the moment of truth, all in English, double checked the editor and all factions and standard maps were there ready yo play with. Six updated will get a workout tonight. :)

Noraf 0 Posted August 15, 2010 Which issues has the Steam version ? I bought OA on Steam and it's been working well so far. OA or A2 works fine vanilla on steam. Combined Ops on the other hand, has some serious issues with steam ( or rather, steam got some serious issues with co ) Just have a look at the how to combine Arma 2 til Co tread : http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=101214 and the Arma2 and steam tread in troubleshootings http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73554 and you'll get the picture. I actualy feel sorry for the ones that have bought the game trough steam......

I actualy feel sorry for the ones that have bought the game trough steam...... Feel sorry enough to buy me a Retail copy? - LOL! Things I will never again do: 1. Buy the German version in hopes of a proper English patch. (did this twice like a dumbass and now have a German copy of ArmA and ArmA 2 I wil never use) 2. Buy Bohemia Games on Steam. (This was just not planned out and the entire launching and patching is pure horse crap.) - Still waiting for a proper fix! 2. Jump from an airplane with no parachute and expect to live a happy life. Just trust me, it is a HUGE mistake, if you can avoid it the Steam version will cost you more and bring you more grief. And this of coarse ruins it for me with the British DLC coming out as well ... NO WAY will I be purchasing it; at least not until all this launchng crap is resolved. I cant even imagine how bad that is going to mess up the the entire launching sequence. Oh and btw .. this is what I have to launch to get CO/ACE working: SETLOCAL ENABLEEXTENSIONS :v64_path_a2 For /F "Tokens=2* skip=2" %%A In ('REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2" /v "MAIN"') Do (set _ARMA2PATH=%%B) IF NOT DEFINED _ARMA2PATH (GOTO v32_path_a2) ELSE (GOTO v64_path_a2oa) :v32_path_a2 For /F "Tokens=2* skip=2" %%C In ('REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2" /v "MAIN"') Do (set _ARMA2PATH=%%D) IF NOT DEFINED _ARMA2PATH (GOTO uac_PATH_A2) ELSE (GOTO v64_path_a2oa) :uac_PATH_A2 @FOR /F "tokens=2* delims= " %%I IN ('REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2" /v "MAIN"') DO (SET _ARMA2PATH=%%J) IF NOT DEFINED _ARMA2PATH (GOTO std_PATH_A2) ELSE (GOTO v64_path_a2oa) :std_PATH_A2 @FOR /F "tokens=2* delims= " %%K IN ('REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2" /v "MAIN"') DO (SET _ARMA2PATH=%%L) IF NOT DEFINED _ARMA2PATH (GOTO ENDfailA2) ELSE (GOTO v64_path_a2oa) :v64_path_a2oa For /F "Tokens=2* skip=2" %%E In ('REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 OA" /v "MAIN"') Do (set _ARMA2OAPATH=%%F) IF NOT DEFINED _ARMA2OAPATH (GOTO v32_path_a2oa) ELSE (GOTO RUN) :v32_path_a2oa For /F "Tokens=2* skip=2" %%G In ('REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 OA" /v "MAIN"') Do set (_ARMA2OAPATH=%%H) IF NOT DEFINED _ARMA2OAPATH (GOTO uac_PATH_A2OA) ELSE (GOTO RUN) :uac_PATH_A2OA @FOR /F "tokens=2* delims= " %%M IN ('REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 OA" /v "MAIN"') DO (SET _ARMA2OAPATH=%%N) IF NOT DEFINED _ARMA2OAPATH (GOTO std_PATH_A2OA) ELSE (GOTO RUN) :std_PATH_A2OA @FOR /F "tokens=2* delims= " %%O IN ('REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 OA" /v "MAIN"') DO (SET _ARMA2OAPATH=%%P) IF NOT DEFINED _ARMA2OAPATH (GOTO ENDfailA2OA) ELSE (GOTO RUN) :run call "%_ARMA2OAPATH%\Expansion\beta\ARMA2OA.exe" "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;%_ARMA2OAPATH%\EXPANSION;ca" "-mod=%_ARMA2OAPATH%\Expansion\beta;%_ARMA2OAPATH%\Expansion\beta\Expansion;@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX;@ACEX_SM" -nosplash %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9 ENDLOCAL :end @exit /B 0 :ENDfailA2 @exit /B 1 :ENDfailA2OA @exit /B 2 Edited August 15, 2010 by pchaxor
Psilocybe 3 Posted August 16, 2010 As I said, my arma2 is German, but I bought retail o:a from ebgames. It turned to combined ops on my pc and seems to have overwritten the German language files so I can now play the game fully in English without the use of mods.
