Game freezes

I bought Arma 2 combined operations yesterday and ive been having problems with freezing. When i play the game it will freeze every so often for 15-30 seconds then give me a frame or 2 then freeze again. It will keep doing this for a few mins then either say recieving and carry on, crash to desktop or i am kicked from the server for loosing connection. When this problem happens my sounds also crash aswell. (Repeating sound).

Can somone please help me as i spend a lot of money for this game and i am very dissapointed because its pretty much unplayable atm :(

Intel Q6600

Nvidia 8800GTS

2GB ram

Windows XP

Few things:

Is your game patched?

Your graphics card looks low, but might handle the game what are your video settings ingame? If they are at the bottem then I would have to throw out that it might be possible that your card cant handle the game.

Is your cpu and or graphics card overheating, overheating will do what you got too, to check for overheating you need to get a cpu temp monitor, and a gpu temp monitor based on your card. If that is indeed the issue then 2 things open your case and check for dust, if theres dust remove it as dust acts like an insulator and keeps heat in, if not the dust then you need to check to see if your fans are workign properly and or add more.

cant say 100% if thats it but thats what comes to mind.

for your cpu Intel Q6600 how many mhz is that?
