Hey guys I'm new to all this and I'm wondering if there's a newbie guide or a thread that quickly explains all the basics of mission editing?

If there is can you please link me to it? Thanks!

Please read the stickies, they are there to help you, not just push the latest new thread below the screen line.

Hi, welcome to the forum. :)

As always, i recommend to read this.

Great link by IndeedPete. (That's how I got started. It was/is a big help!) He did not mention it was written for Arma, but most is applicable to Arma 2. Obviously, for OA, class names are different.

Royal-Killer gave you a great link, too. Just what you have been given so far will keep you busy, and yes, of course, the stickies. ;)

As someone who is just going through this myself I highly recommend some of the videos on youtube that go through the basics of editing. It gives you a good overview.

Everyone above has given some good links and you should read ALL of them. I haven't read some of them and I am going to do that now :)

Obviously spend a lot of time here familiarizing yourself with what is possible and using this resource to look up things you see other people doing:

http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Category:Scripting_Topics

Next try downloading some other people's scripts and modifications and get them working as a way of building your confidence up. Read them and try and learn from other people's code, as a lot of what you have to do is not really properly documented anywhere so learning by example is often best.

And pay particular attention to this page:

http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Debugging_Techniques

Especially the bit about putting "-showscripterrors" in your launch options!!! I can't tell you how much time I spent trying to work out basic errors before I realized that you could just throw that in the launch options and have the game tell you straight away what is wrong in most cases.

Thanks for the detailed reply Polar Bear. I'll be sure to take a look at those links when I get the time.

But for now, I have a really basic question: Is there a simple way of giving a soldier multiple magazines in the initialization box? So I don't have to copy and paste 'this addmagazine "magazine name";' ten times?
