  1. http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-2800c12d-16gtxdg This is the ram I currently own. My old ram is: http://www.corsair.com/en-au/vengeance-pro-series-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr3-dram-1866mhz-c9-memory-kit-cmy16gx3m2a1866c9 Thanks. I wonder if there's something wrong with it... EDIT: And like I mentioned before, in BIOS, 'Turbo Mode' always switches to 'Enabled,' even if I disable it... lol PS: Do you think there might be something wrong with this RAM? Or, whenever there is something wrong with RAM, the computer doesn't boot or something? I don't know actually.

    ArmA3Mark - Benchmark your ArmA 3

Stratis: 44FPS Altis: 41FPS The Ultra-profile... Virtually everything is maxed out, except PIP, 'High;' and... Visibility: 3200, 3800, 100. Resolution: 2560x1440. My rig is in my signature. EDIT: Alright, updated to the latest Dev Build... Stratis: 45fps. (+1 fps) Altis: 40fps. (-1 fps) (I did enable Hyper-Threading.) EDIT: Just checked, I get the same result with Hyper-Threading disabled.
  3. Oh, ... Yes, I know you've mentioned that you build rigs for a living, so don't you worry, I listen carefully to what you have to say :)... But still, my FPS "DROPPED!!!," when compared to my old ram... Like 5-6-7 FPS or something... That shouldn't be happening right? EDIT: Nothing appears in my Arma3 root folder. ---------- Post added at 19:06 ---------- Previous post was at 18:48 ---------- This is according to Fraps, with my old ram, 1866MHz... http://i60.tinypic.com/2a80nzb.png (140 kB) And Fraps with new ram, 2800MHz... http://i57.tinypic.com/258wi6x.png (106 kB) And I just checked the Altis map... 32FPS... And with my old ram I had over 40... The Altis map kinda convinced me to perhaps bring my computer to a computer store or some shit... A drop of 10 fps, with much better ram.....?
  4. Ok, my new RAM arrived... With Helo's ArmA3Mark benchmarking, I get... Stratis: 44FPS. 2FPS increase when compared to my other RAM Altis: 42FPS. 4FPS increase. For my rig, which is in my sig, is this fine? Or should it be higher? I expected a bigger increase in FPS to be honest... A bit disappointed. PS: How do I take screenshots in Arma3? When I want to Print Screen my Video Settings, and I paste it into Paint, all I get is black. EDIT: Actually, I noticed that Turbo Mode was enabled again (even though I disabled it yesterday), that's why I had the increase in FPS... Disabled Turbo Mode again, and it's the same FPS as with my old ram... 42FPS. How is that possible? WTF? And I did notice buildings and trees flickering from time to time while using Helo's Arma3Mark... And the temperatures of the cores of my CPU when idle are higher again... 33°-36°C... Same goes for my Mobo, 36°C... And the Core0-3 Voltage show 0.720v all the time... While before, it would be 0.000v, or, 0.028 from time to time, when idle... Now it's 0.720 all the time, when not doing anything. (EDIT: Alright, restarted my PC, now it changes.) Did another benchmark, and now it's 41 and 39 FPS... This can't be right, going from 1866MHz to 2800MHz, and basically, no increase in FPS... What a waste of money, lol... And it also takes longer to boot my computer... EDIT: Alright, rebooted for like a fourth of fifth time, and now it's extremely fast... And temperatures of my CPU are lower again when idle... VRM is also lower, but Mobo is still quite high... Was only 28°C; or 30°C yesterday... 36°C now. EDIT: Wtf, this can't be right... Did another benchmark, Stratis... Now it's only 35 FPS. This can't be right... And now the temperature of my Mobo is 40°C..... Also, I rebooted again, and, in BIOS, Turbo Mode is always Enabled automatically... I have to disable it every time. EDIT: Now temperature of my Mobo dropped to 36°C again. And VRM to 32°C... EDIT: But this 35FPS I had during my latest benchmark... that's just not possible, if you look at the rig I have... And a jump of 8°C more or less for my mobo. Even 12°C at one time... My new ram did come with 2 fans though, and I did install them. EDIT: Did 3 benchmarks in a row, the Stratis map; and 3 times, 37FPS... Something's wrong here, that's for sure... With my 1866MHz memory, I had 42 or some shit. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm thinking about taking it to a computer store and let computer specialists have a look at it... Now my FPS is lower... That's just not possible.
  5. Ok, great news, it appears LSD_Timewarp82 was right. I installed my new cooler, the Noctua NH-U14S, and ran Prime95. (The first option: Small FFT's.) With my stock cooler, it would go to 95°C+ (even 100°C) in a matter of seconds. (In Core Temp). Now I let it ran for quite a while, and max it got to was 74°C. (In Core Temp.) But in the software called "Dual Intelligent Processors," it shows something like 60°C, or a bit higher. And when the CPU is idle, it's definitely lower as well. When idle, the cores are at 29°C-32°C. (Core Temp) But I did notice that, even when the CPU is idle, there are spikes from time to time, up until 38°C. Is this normal? But usually, they stay around 29°C-32°C. Is this normal for a Not-OC'ed i7-4790K (@ 4.0GHz) with a great aftermarket cooler? Or should it be even lower. PS: The Noctua NH-U14S comes with thermal paste, NT-H1. Just mentioning that, in case you're looking for a new cooler, and you decide to get this one. Oh, PS: Normally my Mobo would be 32°C. But now it's 30°C all the time... (In "Dual Intelligent Processors 5".)
  6. Oh I see, ok, thanks. Gonna disable Turbo Mode than. :)
  7. But in BIOS it says that the multiplication is 40. Not 44.
  8. In BIOS, "Turbo Mode" is enabled, so, do I have to Disable it then, to keep the temperatures down.
  9. These are the default settings.... It's showing Ratio 44...? BTW, I changed something in this program, and, I immediately reverted back to default settings... I had to reboot, and now my CPU is running cooler... Wtf? in the 30's, and at first it was in the mid 40's... I didn't do a goddamn thing. Like I said, it's back to default. And before I rebooted, the "VRM" of the CPU was at 50°... Also...: - BCLK Frequency was 100, now it's 100.2 - Ratio was 44 (4400). Now it's 44 (4408.8) - "CPU Frequency" at the bottom left was 800MHz. Now it's 799.6.
  10. All standard, no OCing whatsoever. I could of course for the time being increase the CPU Fan Speed in the BIOS. See if that makes any difference. BTW, in BIOS, my CPU Input Voltage is 1.85, and, Vcore is 1.04 or something like that... Is that normal? Shouldn't Vcore be higher? EDIT: This is what HWinfo is showing: http://i60.tinypic.com/dvq6tg.png (511 kB) PS: In BIOS, when I choose "Manual" for CPU Voltage Core, something else is shown: CPU Voltage Core Override, or something like that; And I can only choose "Auto." (And it gives some info: Min; 0.001V, Max: 1.9xxV. Something like that.) Is that normal, and should I try that? (And I have the latest BIOS.)
  11. Alright, thanks for those screens. Yeah, I'm calm, don't worry. :D But I'm certain I have an excellent cooler on the way. Noctua NH-U14S. We'll see how that turns out... I'll definitely post the results here, just like I will do with the RAM. EDIT: But yeah, it shows that the CPU Load goes up to 82, and in my case it's 100...
  12. Alright, I ran Prime95, the first option, "Small FFT's" or something like that, and temps went up to 100°C. Ah screw it, gonna wait for my new cooler, and then see what happens. But I kinda doubt it's gonna make a lot of difference. Even when I'm not doing anything, the temps are around 44°C-48°C... There's probably something wrong, it's either my mobo, or it's the CPU.
  13. EDIT: What should I choose here? Well, I just went for Disable.
  14. BTW, I do have some good news regarding my Memory. When I first did Helo's benchmark, called Arma3Mark, I had 31 FPS on Stratis, and 22 FPS on Altis. And in BIOS, at the time, my 1866MHz (XMP) memory which I still have, was running at 1333MHz, and XMP not Enabled. And now, after enabling XMP and upping the RAM to 1866MHz, Stratis runs at 42FPS, and Altis 38. Pretty darn nice. :D And I still have much faster RAM on the way... Curious about the gain in FPS when I have that installed. :)
  15. You know, I wonder whether it's my Mobo. Because I can't update my BIOS. http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1150/MAXIMUS-VII-HERO/E9192_Maximus_Vii_Hero.pdf If you go to page 73 of that link, it says that there should be a flashing light; but I didn't see anything. And, I just checked my BIOS version in Windows using the "msinfo32" command, and, it's still the same. So, could it be my Mobo that is faulty? And I didn't OC anything. EDIT, gonna try and update my BIOS in Windows, although, there being no flashing light indicates there might be something wrong with my motherboard. ---------- Post added at 14:50 ---------- Previous post was at 14:15 ---------- Well, I just updated my BIOS, it worked... Didn't change anything about the temperatures... But, now I notice in the program "Core Temp," that "Usage," Below "Tj. Max" is around 10.6 - 11 watts." And before the update, it was only 1.1 watts or something. Doing Windows Experience Index again, and, the usage goes up to 45 watts, and temps almost as high as 100°C, just like last time.
  16. WTF, I just played some Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and, when I check Core Temp; All 4 cores reached 100°C. How in the world is that possible, is it faulty? I know it's the stock cooler, but this is just way too high. I think I'm gonna contact Intel about this. Do you think I should RMA it? Or do you think a BIOS update might help? EDIT: I redid the Windows Experience Index, and, somewhere near the end, this happened: Something ain't right. I think I have a faulty one. Or could it be the mobo? How can I find out whether it's the mobo or the CPU? But, seeing that there are a shitload of results to be found on Google talking about how hot these Haswell's can run, (and also read something about that there might be faulty batches...), it most likely is the CPU I imagine. Gonna update my BIOS, see if that works.
  17. I can't tomorrow, I'm away for most of the day. I could go myself today, buy I'm a bit lazy. :) I could of course... Maybe I will. And my parents had to go to the supermarket today anyhow. There was no need for me to go with them. And I don't have a driver's license... Yeah, I know, I keep postponing it. And I don't know if you have to be at a certain age to buy Ethanol.
  18. Btw, my mom couldn't find Isopropyl Alcohol; It's for removing the Thermal Paste from my CPU. Tomorrow she's gonna buy Ethanol from the pharmacy. Ethanol should be fine as well, no? BTW, could I use Optical Wipes to clean glasses with? I believe they have some alcohol in them.
  19. Thanks, but there is information about applying this paste on the back of the package, I'll just follow that. EDIT: Alrighty, just ordered new RAM: G.SKILL TridentX F3-2800C12D-16GTXDG; 16GB (2x8GB), 2800MHz, CL12, 12-14-14-35-2N. I'll just sell the ones I have now. I'll benchmark Arma 3 again when it's installed.

    2017 - Official Announcement!

I did check the spam folder, it's not there. It's the same handle as this one that I registered with. EDIT: Ah, I guess somebody activated it for me; Now I can choose an Avatar. Thanks!
  21. Thanks for the link. Gonna add it to a text file for later. Just asked my mom to buy some Isopropyl Alcohol (or Ethanol) from the store tomorrow, to remove the cooling paste from my CPU.
  22. Alright, yes, I think I'm gonna order the Noctua NH-U14S. And use Noctua NT-H1 Cooling paste. Oh, PS, I just checked my BIOS, and the RAM was running at 1333MHz, changed it to 1866. Do I have to do anything else to BIOS settings related to RAM? Or is that all. And the CPU Temp in BIOS was 47°-48°.
  23. Hmm, I've read that Haswell's can run pretty darn hot with the stock cooler. (I Googled i7-4790k running hot, and got a lot of results...) I just played some Arma 3, and this is what Core Temp is showing: This seems mighty hot, no? I played for only 5 minutes or so. (Took the screenshot right after I played, and, Alt-Tabbed, with Arma3 still running.) So, should I buy the Noctua NH-U14S anyhow? I still have some excellent thermal paste lying at home in a drawer somewhere. (Noctua NT-H1.) Then I can still decide whether or not I want to OC my CPU. And now I've read that there 'might' be faulty batches out there... Crap... Maybe I should use an excellent aftermarket cooler first, before sending it back... Do you guys think there's something wrong with this CPU? Or, try the Noctua NH-U14S air cooler + Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste first? EDIT: Alright, I turned off my PC and checked to make sure the stock cooler is mounted properly, which it is. I ran Core Temp again, right after I got into windows...: This cannot be normal, right? Gonna wait for a reply in here. If it's really necessary, I'm just gonna contact Intel directly, or the store where I bought it from. Hmm, now I've read that updating the BIOS might help... Some Mobo's apparently have the CPU running at too high a voltage or something...? So, should I update the BIOS first?
