Why did I write this wall of text? This is much better lol At first there were protests on the Maidan in Kiev against the corrupt president Yanukovich. During the protest a few protesters got shot, but when Yanukovich said that he would arrest all protesters and made protesting illegal, the protests escalated into violence. Later Yanukovich fled to russia after a deal with the protesters failed, because they didn't want him as president. Ukraine set up a temporary government until the new elections, but Russia invaded and annexed Crimea (A region in south Ukraine with russias huge black sea fleet and a lot of military bases, that had to pay rent to Ukraine). After a while a group of heavily armed people took over a police station and had a few shootouts with the police in Slovjansk, which later turned into their main base. 20 days later Ukraine started an "Anti Terrorist Operation" (ATO) and they taped a few phone calls between the separatists and Igor Girkin (aka "Strelkov"), who workes for the russian FSB and GRU and who fought in Chechnya, Transnistria, Georgia and more. It later turned out that he is indeed leading the operation. He and his soldiers later declared the "Donetsk People's Republic", however the support of the locals was very low. The separatists are getting heavy support from Russia and their main fighting force consists of russian veterans. Their weapons are most likely supplied by russia as well. This is the reason for the sanctions from the EU and the USA, in addition to the sanctions for the annexetion of crimea of course. Right now the separatists are taking heavy losses and have been pushed out of their central Slovyansk into Lugansk. Now they are employing the scorched earth tactic and destroying every piece of infrastructure they come across. Grad rockets are bombarding Lugansk from Russia and yesterday they have shot down a civilian airplane killing 298 people.

Phone conversation between the separatists, shortly after they shot down the plane. The last video is from the morning, so its not from the grads that were fired in the videos. Since I'm not an expert I can't analyse and tell you what those impacts are from, however, it is pretty much 100% certain that the Grad fire from yesterday was coming from Russia. There are a lot of videos on YT, Facebook, VN and Twitter made by Russians with the coresponding locations (I even linked one in the first post, you can compare for yourself). Aparrently the army has disabled 3 grads yesterday.

After some messing around I have discovered that the self propelled artillery behaves very strange. The muzzle velocity given does not translate correctly into the function and the shells hit up to a few hundred meters away from target. Does anyone know whats going on? Edit: I have discoverd that the mortar shells are pretty effective against infrantry, however, the damage to vehicles is almost zero (Unless you get a direct hit). Is there any fix to this?

Or if you have enough players you could use the range table... That way you can get more player interaction, since your shots won't be as exact and you would require a spotter or you just bombard a whole area which would be more realistic. However we don't really seem to have realistic fragmentation in ArmA, so maybe one day we could get a mod or a patch, so bombarding larger areas would have a more realistic and effective outcome. Do you by any chance know how one might realize BL1P's idea? Oh and good luck with the script!

Yeah, sorry, but unfortunately I don't know how to mod. Maybe if someone who does know how to do it will see this thread and will be ready to help. By the way, you get a laser designater in the first person view, when using a mortar. If you have eyes on target it will tell you the exact elevation you need, so there wouldnt be a need for a script, since its already in the game. During testing I have also discoverd that the mortars are way to accurate at far range and that there is minimal to no dispersion between the low and far firemodes.

Well, thats not complicated at all! Edit: I added the far range table for the 82mm using this method, tested it and it works!
