Player looking for squad (not for squads to post looking for players!)
mannyrecon replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - SQUADS AND FANPAGES
27 male, living in Southern California, looking for an active, mature unit that emphasizes realism that hosts FTX's and/or operations on weekday nights (prefer Monday to Thursday). My weekends are always busy so I can't commit to Friday-Sunday. I'm very devoted to regulations and do my best to exhibit realism in arma. Type of units I prefer: infantry, special operations, SEALs, marines, or Rangers. US-based units only please. Must be an active unit, not a start up or "a few friends." Thank you -

Hello gentlemen, I am looking for a unit that emphasizes realism when it comes to tactics, training, and communication. I highly prefer smaller, tight units (delta forces, navy seals, rangers, or something similar). I do not like large units with 40+ or more people. I have been playing Arma III for about a year and I love it. My favorite and preferable roles are recon, marksman, demolitions, and shooter. I have teamspeak and a working mic I am 25 years old (26 in july) I am a nice guy I am mature and like playing realistically and authentically I live in Los Angeles (PST timezone) My steam name is IPL *I am only available to play on Sunday evenings* If you are not a small realism unit that plays on sunday evenings, please do not bother contacting me, or for the sake of advertising your unit. I want a unit that I can commit to on sunday evenings. -
I noticed two things off the bat: 1) When prone and I deploy bipod, I "sink" into the ground a few inches. Is this happening for anyone else? 2) The 'deploy bipod' is supposed to reduce weapon sway, but the scope is swaying exactly the same than if I wasn't deploying the bipod while prone. The only noticeable stance where weapon sway is reduced is if i'm up against a wall or window.

Couple problems with weapon resting/deployment

Trixies mod has bipods that flip up and down, and they do work in the DLC as a cosmetic. Also, the m24 works when rested on a wall, so why shouldn't it when prone? -

And I ate an apple yesterday and it was really juicy. And I ran in the water and discovered I have fins to swim with. I hate when people say stuff like this like it's supposed to mean something. Can you provide a video you made showing the comparison? I will when I download a recording software. -

They can jump when fired, sure, but they shouldn't sway on a bipod -

No it isn't. Try the VQI specter mod, zero sway when prone 24/7. Also for bipods and animations, trixies sniper mod works. Put these two mods together and you have what the marksman DLC should have been -

MCC Sandbox 3 - Dynamic mission creating tool for ArmA 3
mannyrecon replied to shay_gman's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
You're just saving a name, not the objects you placed. When you're on the save screen, the code will automatically be copied, so in the profile box on the right, select it and just paste and it should come up. Then save with a name. From then on, the code will always appear there so all you have to do afterwards is select the name and save it when you desire. -

Are you pasting the code in the profile box or are you just giving it a name and saving? When you get to the save screen, select the text box for your profile (not the clipboard one on top), and simply paste, then save. -

I'm having a really hard time deleting spawn points that I've placed in the MCC4 screen (not the zeus mode, but in MCC). They look like little shacks with a table, camo net, and a flag, and you can pre-select them to be a parachute jump spawn, teleport, and other things. Well, I've placed a couple of them by accident on a map i'm working on (a training map), and I can't select them or delete them. They're just stuck and fixated in that one spot I placed. I'm able to spawn on them once I load the map, but I cannot find a way to delete them (either in MCC or zeus mode). How on earth do I delete them? One of them is in the middle of a runway I was planning on using, and now I got this random little shack that's indestructible. Any help??? -
I am brand new to the Arma series, and for the week that I've played it I absolutely LOVE every aspect. In particular, I love the artillery the most. This past weekend alone, I racked up over 400 kills with the MLRS (which by the way I adore), and I constantly reload next to the ammo truck, so missles just keep on coming! However, I have used the M4 Scorcher a few times but it just doesn't seem to be cutting it for me despite the numerous shell types. I use the MLRS because of its 12 rockets that do insane carnage, but it seems to really only be effective on infantry units only, whereas the scorcher is more precision for direct heavy targets, with the exception of cluster rounds. The only downside to the M4 is its reload time between shots. Without an ammo truck, I think the only downside to the MLRS is that people hate it because it can clear an objective way too fast (I haven't been criticized yet, so idk). While I can see an M4's uses, I just feel the MLRS is better all around due to my experiences, despite feeling kinda bad for clearing out almost all enemies before ground units even get there lol. Arma community, which artillery gun is all-around more efficient and proficient in every role?

My unit is already examining it and planning on using it for a training map :D looks amazing well done!

Surprised there isn't a thread on this yet after searching. I'm a very observant person, which fits perfectly into what reconnaissance and sniping demands. I've been practicing lately on some loadouts, skins, and mods, and I've been practicing more with identifying enemy positions, staying hidden, and of course sniping between 400m-900m. Are there any other practical things to keep in mind, or try? I know the obvious ones: keep your silhouette hidden when along ridges, and stay under the cover of rocks, bushes, and trees. Are there any other sniping/observing/recon tips you could provide to this lowly recon player?

My arma 3 is suddenly crashing every time I get shot at. A single shot and/or its sound will make my game freeze and I have to force quit or sometimes hard restart. If AI doesn't shoot at me, the game runs fine and I can kill whoever, whenever. But as soon as that first shot is fired at me, freeze and crash... error saying Arma 3 stopped working... etc. It's been happening every time now for several days. I don't get it, what's wrong? This never used to happen before. Mods I'm using: Trixie's Sniper/Marksman Pack ASDG_Attachments Joint Rails AV IndUs (US Army inspired units) Community Base Addons FHQ Accessories pack M16A4 TMR Modular Realism VQI SpectreSniper PC Specs: Win 7 AMD FX 6350 6-core, 4.2GHz 16384 MB RAM GeForce GTX 660 Ti

Game crashes/freezes when I get shot at by AI
mannyrecon replied to mannyrecon's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Believe me, I love it as much as you do. I even let Trixie know about it but he never responded, so whether it gets fixed or not is beyond me at this point. I feel so gross with default ghillie and sniper now.. -
I use a 40'' sceptre-branded tv for my monitor when playing Arma 3. I can't figure out how to set the tv itself to max resolution but the aspect ratio is on "full 100%" (whatever that means), and it shows 1080i 60Hz. The first issue I face is that in Arma, this is the first thing I see EVERY TIME I get to the main menu... http://i.imgur.com/Sm2d0Np.png (2607 kB) I try and set the game to max resolution (1920x1080p) and the whole picture/menu gets offset and cuts off into the corner, with some of the menu cutting off the screen. I did some adjusting and I was able to get the best resolution set to 1360x768 (16:9 wide). The game will work fine ... for a while (see below). The second issue I face is any explosion or engagement I get into within 5-10 minutes of the game, and arma will just freeze. If I push ESC fast enough I'll just go to the desktop and arma is closed with no error pop-ups, but if I wait too long in-game to push ESC, it freezes and I have to hard-restart. I recently moved in with my now-wife, where previously this was never an issue to me on my 39'' vizio. I was able to play 1920x1080p on my old tv, but for some reason I can't on hers? It's getting really frustrating and I can't figure it out. Any help? UPDATE: I just tried to do fullscreen window version, and it locked me onto 1768 resolution. It was working for about 5 minutes and then I get the error that Arma 3 has stopped working. The game will crash when an AI shoots at me.

Game crashes/freezes when I get shot at by AI
mannyrecon replied to mannyrecon's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Update 9/30/2014 @ 12:00pm PDT: I discovered that the Trixie's Sniper/Marksman Pack mod is what's causing the crash. When using the ghillie and/or weapons of that mod, any AI shots toward me aren't registered for some reason, causing my game to crash. Once I disabled the mod and used the NATO or US Army ghillie with a default sniper, the crashing stopped and I was able to respawn and such. -

ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread
mannyrecon replied to max power's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
When customizing my loadouts and trying different mods, it's so difficult to not have some sort of front and/or rotational display of my soldier when I try on new equipment. I have to exit out of the thing each time and rotate the camera to see what it looks like on me. Is there any mod that makes it easier to see what you're trying on at the ammobox? -
I have trouble spotting which enemies are which, in terms of their specific role (UAV operator, squad leader, etc). They all look the same to me :-/ Can someone provide screenshots as to what each one looks like, if they can take the time to show? I want to create a sniper school unit, and one of the missions I want to construct is to eliminate specific targets, such as the UAV operators.

I'm trying to search for the game mode where on Altis, it's completely occupied by enemies, scattered all over, and you simply clear them out wherever, whenever. Their general positions on the map are indicated in red squares, and once you clear out the units in those squares, it will disappear on the map. What game mode is this??

[WIP] Von Quest Industries - Sniper System
mannyrecon replied to Von Quest's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I think the sniper blindness (building your stealth) should be lowered to 1 minute max. I tried the recent version on concrete, plain grass, and in brush. It's been more than 2 minutes and I don't know if I built my hiding/stealth yet, nor does it give me the option to like it did in the first place yesterday. As mentioned previously, I think 'building' that hiding/stealth blindness should take no more than a minute, while any large movements, loud shots, and rolling over would reset it. The senses, however, could be built up overtime. The sniper blindness doesn't work in general. It's only prompted me to enable it twice in two days, whether it be hiding on plain dirt and grass, or dense bushes and forests. When it was enabled, I couldn't tell if it was really building or not, or how much it built for the duration of my hand off the mouse, but even when I fired my weapon, there was no indication of the blindness resetting. The only other time (the 3rd time) it has prompted to enable was when I was in my main base running around by the ammo box, and I could enable the hiding/stealth while running on concrete. Just some experiences to address some problems.
