  1. So I skimmed this thread yesterday and looked at the more recent posts, you seem to be kind of choosing components like the muzzle break or something, I am not sure how this rifle has suppressors attached but maybe you could just make different versions of the rifles with different muzzle-brakes or even make the muzzle break an attachment the same way suppressors are?

    Maybe you are planning to do this or something, or maybe you have some specific thing you wanted to do I cant really discern how this is handled so far so I would like some clarification.

  2. Looking nice bro :) Keep at it!

    I understand that texturing it is going to be very difficult, once you get the main textures (default ones you want to use) you should see if you can make some other ones or try making some type of template, it would probably be really complex though just looking at the model :confused:

    Nice one, I hope this addon ends up with a release, it sure looks like it will.


  3. Didn't know they had VBS tools, what I meant was I didn't think they would allow the public to use EBO so we couldn't break its encryption, I assume VBS tools are not totally public?

    Doesn't that come with some licence along with VBS or something I assume its different? (ie:If it cost you like 2000 dollars, my logic wouldn't apply to that)

    Anyway I wasn't reffering to using VBS tools, but when you tried that did it work at all?

    They botched the whole armor system anyway :eek:

    Quite honestly it doesn't really work at the moment so I wouldn't really count on this stuff.

    Until they really fix armor (On infantry units) and all the penetration stuff that relates to it they, (Lets say they are trying to fix it)

    they would probably be constantly changing values and all that stuff, also who knows they mightve used some arbitrary values that dont correspond properly or somthing.


  5. If they release it, we could easily break EBO encryption because the de-encryption is right there on our hard drives then, we could reverse engineer it. Even if they encrpyted the encrpytion and stuff its just not worth the risk for them I think, especially monetarily when you think about it:

    And EBO is not some one time karts DLC thing, hundreds of thousands of dollars of custom VBS packages and the like are protected by EBO, used by BISim too I think to encrypt the data they give to different militaries and stuff.

  6. Use bipods

    Remember, that is on like what, 1 gun last time I saw some dayz vid

    Dayz has less than 10 guns if I remember correctly, defintely less than 10 rifles (Your not going to use a bipod on a pistol)

    For arma 3, its very different because it has to fit onto every gun, not glitch out, and also they have to account for addon compatiblity to some extent

    if it breaks, or doesnt work with any addons people would be very dissatisfied, also they didn't do this at the start and doing it now would be a daunting task.

    Obviously we all want it but, I wouldn't count on bipods happening, at least not in a proper way.

    I do agree the engine isnt dead all that stuff, but the most ridiclously bad part of arma 3 right now I would say is the fact that AI can survive so many hits, anyone who has played arma 2 instantly recognizes this error, they totally botched infantry armor system and really should either make bullets more powerful, or more likley, make it so armor works properly

    (Only at really long distances and should actually allow penetration, not just a hit with some dumb damage reduction so your guy looks up a foot instantly then moves a few inches and says "ahhh oww")

  7. Would that actually work since unless the game predicts that they died, wouldn't the other ones find out, then get un-grouped?

    Or is it because they somehow see the body then report it?

    The AI system really is weird, I still don't understand it properly and I have been playing ArmA for years.

    Also if there are less groups, isn't that kind of more laggy because if you have a group of 10 all following a squad leader, I think it renders a lower quality AI and the squad leader AI makes most of the decisions but with single units if there were many of them I assume they would probably be more likely to make their own decisions and more "events" would happen to cause strain?

  8. Yeah I didn't exactly mean automated process. I meant more like somthing in game that detects the exsisting memory point for somthing like the base of the rotor (Idk if it exsists in a3 right now) and just uses that point to render the icon, I guess the rest is script to unlock rotor or whatever.

    But in terms of you speaking about no,

    at least not for the one inheriting from the non physx classes

    do you mean that any heli using the regular classes (ie:addon heli uses ghosthawk flight phsyics by referncing its config as opposed to having its own for it) would inherit rotorlib automatically through that or it really is a case by case basis in which every heli has to have rotorlib "implemented" (configured manually or whatever) in its addon or such?

    But uhhh...

    Dude sorry you misinterpreted what I meant, I don't want to actually play over my local area network, I currently use hamachi which I am sure you know how it works, uses "LAN" that isnt real it just connects the 2 computers.

    Also just telling me I have a shitty router, that makes no sense bro. My router is fine, and not sure what you mean by "firewall settings too high" unless you mean I have to port forward?

    Hamachi isn't for actual LAN, I wouldn't use it if I did not need it, guess I didn't make that clear or something. (ie: I use it for playing w/ my friends over the internet not real Local area network)

    I use hamachi because internet hosting option on the server browser doesn't work (No its not my router being shitty please don't re-suggest that)

  10. Saukra_chan does that mean that if they release rotorlib for arma 3, all of the helicopters using a base arma 3 class instantly inherit those rotorlib flying model properties?

    Also as a general thing related to rotorlib are they adding the whole Take On Helicopters thing where you looked around to press buttons to turn on the engine and unlock the rotors and that type of thing? I assume if they wanted to they could at least make some of that auto-magically work with addon helis and the like through some system, I am not a ArmA modder but I assume there is

    some type of standard point on the model that identifies that part as a rotor, or the base of the rotor or something so it can work with the in game code, so they could take that and just make the icon appear over that standard used point? And maybe the same with something like the part to turn on the engine on the dashboard? I don't really think arma 3 inspectorates that into its coding stuff but again I don't really know about this stuff.


  11. Are you guys going to release the whole thing as one big mod? Or have certain parts seperate so others can use them (Weapon packs or somthing), or at some point release some stuff seperatley, give to some community members to use in their mods (Like for instance someone wanted to use a vehicle you had or somthing)?

    Also are you planning on compatibility with any other mods or using mods like ASDG JR and such?

  12. Are you guys planning on adding ASDG Rails support? I plan on using this with the hopefully released American and Russian forces from RHS and also BWmod, and I think that all of those support ASDG (Or will) and I want to also have france along with these factions :) So I hope you can use ASDG, at least in a compatibility patch or something of that capacity because it means that you can get lots of optics on your weapons using it from all the other mods and we can put your optics on other weapons so its a very good situation.

    Also in general are you guys planning about any other compatbility related options? I don't remember if you did it for ArmA 2, but ACE compatiblity (If it is somehow needed idk how its going to be) once it comes out eventually would be cool.

  13. I guess I don't exactly mean echo, yeah reverb is the problem. I think there is what sounds like a bit of echo mixed in there, but regardless that big "wowowowo" at the end of the gunshots are way too strong and shouldn't be there. I agree with you Brisse that they should have some system to do that. tpM's mod "ACSE"? (I think) (Advanced combat sound enviroment) is going to add that type of proper stuff to the game I suggest you look at the thread if you haven't already. But yeah why didnt they do dry sound samples like arma 2, it sounded good enough no problems, Arma 3 sound has actual PROBLEMS, not just stuff that could be improved/isnt the best which is really sad :(

    I guess we wait for something like tpM's mod or some other mod. Someone should at least make a mod that just removes these bad reverbs, other mods can be used later on when released for better sound effects or something.

  14. Hello everyone.

    I have been playing ArmA 3 with 2 or so friends for a while on multiplayer. I played ArmA 2 and OA/CO for a long time (Proof I am not a noob, lel), but I always hosted a game in the server browser menu, never bothering to try to use the actual server files. I haven't ran an actual "server" for ArmA before, so I am wondering, if I was to host a arma3server.exe on my computer that I use to play the game,

    Specs:

    AMD Phenom II x6 2.9 Ghz (such a shitty freq lol)

    Gtx 560 ti 2gb

    8gb of some generic ram that is OK quality

    Some regular Hard Drive (Not some fancy SSD) that is a ok speed, I dont even remember the numbers but I did used to have problems in my arma 2 speed because of it, arma 3 is usually fine in terms of hard drive stuff

    So, would this even be worth trying? I usually get ok FPS on a hosted game with like 2 friends, and I use hamachi because internet wont work

    (hosting over "internet" option without hamachi activated worked fine for me in ArmA 2, I don't remember if I had to forward any ports though, I assume if I had that the ports are actaully the same for ArmA 3, but maybe there is some steam master server or somthing I have to open up a port for too now that arma 3 is a full on steam exclusive?)

    Overall:

    -On my computer, where I get avg 30-50 fps in arma 3 with a few friends (2-3) on mp , is this even worth bothering trying to host a server on the same machine?

    -If I don't end up using a actual server file, is there some ports I can forward so I don't have to use hamachi because I assume its slower?

    (Also I would appreciate if someone who responds could paste the link of whatever the best tutorial for ArmA 3 servers is in general)


  15. Yes tpM I agree with what you are saying here. How could they have done all this nice recording of these sounds that we even saw on video, and it seems like they now trashed it or something?

    Even if they had some difficulties, which I can understand, some of the ridiculous echo levels on the sounds are just inexcusable, seriously they had more than enough time to fix some of these things. The MX sound ends up being a big mix of crap on full auto, along with the F2000 (irl name, the AAF rifle) (I think its mk something in game), the sounds for it are so full of echo, its really pretty annoying. I think that Arma 2/OA/CO had better sounds, even if they were lower quality they didn't sound particularity bad or really take you out of the immersion, I really cant fire the AAF rifle for that long until my ears get annoyed.

    At least your nice ACSE mod will fix these problems I hope, if BI doesn't make an effort at least their is a light at the end of the tunnel.

    PS/TL:dr:

    I do respect BI studios for giving us arma 3 all that stuff etc and we can cry about its problems all day long, but the sound particulary really was just not up to par, especially the echo is unacceptable.

    I have seen multiple people on here complain that this still requires the "isla duala" (full version w/ units) as a dependency on play with six, so it ends up mounting this addon onto your ArmA 3 game,

    please please please remove this dependency, I am very sure this addon only requires the vegetation and buildings for it, and also I am pretty sure you said now it includes all of that in the PBO anyway, I would try to report this on play with six, but please do remove that dependency as it is useless and causes a bunch of ArmA 2 units to load on your editor and totally breaks the main menu with error messages. :( Please help with this issue. I love this great map and want to be able to properly install it without this hassle and workarounds!


  17. Hello guys.

    If you were not already aware, in the ArmA 3 editor, under ambient life the only option is a rabbit, which means it is the only playable animal.

    This is opposed to ArmA 2 where you had all the animals as a playable option because they were actual units in the editor.

    So what I asking is if there is some way to make the player be an animal unit, hopefully without having them have another "physical form" (ie: a human player) and then remote controlling, the reason I do not want this is because obviously it does not help FPS and a human "bot" sitting there for this ability would be annoying.

    I am still open to this option and all options, as I really have some good ideas, (Cue taliban dog scouts) for this. :)

    I was using this pack and I quite like it, one problem I have been having is this,

    the magazines for it are not capitalized and personally it is kind of annoying me so I can't use them ;)

    In all seriousness though, as it is called the FAMAS, could you update the mod so the magazines say "FAMAS X Rnd 5.56×45mm Mag" or somthing like that just to look more proper and such, instead of "famas mag", mostly because all other magazines have capitalizations and it makes these look weird along with them, especially with the weird ArmA 3 font. (Or like "X Rnd FAMAS 5.56×45mm Mag") (Rnd meaning round as a abbreviation I believe the vanilla game does it like that)

    Thanks for this great mod purple and I hope you can do this.

    (Also, If i am somehow using an old classname that isn't capitalized but you maybe had updated it with new ones that are before and I didnt know?) I don't know but please explain if somthing is wrong on my end)

    I also remembered that the "Folded/Unfolded" bipod message isn't capitalized either, isn't a big deal, but its somthing that helps to add to the quality of the mod if you fix little things like that
