    OK, fixed the beach texture showing up where the concrete is supposed to be. Found that issue in a rvmat in the layers file that is being generated by TB and Buldozer. I think I have it figured out to a tile from the layers file, but I don't know how/why the clutter would only be strange in one area. @Auss, I just reread something you said about brown on the .png tile in the layers folder. If I am looking at the correct file, the area that I am having problems with is indeed brown. How would I fix this? I see 5 total colors, including the brown. Thanks!

    @usedragon I had started with not haveing "empty" in the script, but I can try it again. If I removed concrete from my surface wouldn't that just make a white area? Worth a shot though. Thanks.

    Program Freezing

    I built a small terrain to make training sites for, shooting range, kill house, etc. The problem I am having is when in game, when I take the player to the north east corner of the map the game freezes. No where else. Nothing goes wrong during packing and I only have a couple objects on the terrain. The terrain is 2048x2048 x1, again not very big. Thoughts? Thanks!

    @ALL First I hope you are still interested in helping me. I just got home from a long "trip" overseas and am trying to get back into my terrain. Here is the breakdown of how my files were loaded. heightfield- from L3DT as 2048x2048 with a horizontal scale of 10 All .PNG's were sized to 2048x2048 TB settings are: Grid Size: 2048x2048 Cell Size: 10 Terrain Size: 20480.000 Size 2048x2048 Resolution: 10 Size: 512x512 Desired overlap: 16 Size: 20.00x20.00 I also tried all that bushlurker suggested. Tested that out and nothing changed. I have also noticed that some of the concrete color is showing my beach texture and then suddenly changes over to the concrete texture. The way I have it set up I should not have any clutter on the concrete or beach right now. Any additional help with this would be great! Thanks.

    @dragonsyr That worked for that problem, well with Buldozer right now as I haven't packed it yet for game testing. I am curious why this fixed it. This goes against all the tutorials I have seen about making terrains. Can you explain how these values work with each other? I have a new problem with this terrain size. My mask is about 97% on color, representing sand, and 3% another color, representing a small patch of grass. Now the sand is overpowering the grass. All I can see is a slight shadow at higher elevation. I have tried changing the texture size up and down and no change to the grass, just makes the tiles look larger. Thoughts? UPDATE: I packed it and was able to open this in game. The frame rate seemed very bad, but that could be my hardware I suppose; didn't have any performance problem before. This happened to the map when I went into editor: http://imgur.com/a/IPkKB Do I need to adjust something in my config to recenter this now? And it is "top right". Damn my dyslexia, LOL! Thanks!

    Sorry for being vague. Here are the settings for my TB project. I think the configs are good, but I will post those next. Grid Size 2048x2048 Cell Size 1 Terrain size 2048.000 Size 2048x2048 Res 1 Size 512x512 Desired overlap 16 Size 32x32 Also, when I go to the same area in Buldozer it freezes. Thanks.
  11. I'm pretty sure the CUP folder must be labeled CA, not CUP, but if CUP works, then go with it.

    Noob map maker looking for advice

    I am curious on the Visitor 3 thing too. I have a terrain in progress and only use L3DT and TB. When you are ready to place objects, look into the XCam addon, found on the Armaholic website. It is a lot more user friendly than TB when it comes to adding objects. As for the adding things to the sat map, I have used GIMP, a free replacement to Photo Shop, to add overlays or layers to the image. It will take some playing around to get the result you are looking for. Sorry for the lack of detail, but I am also a novice at this. Good luck!

    Good evening folks. Sorry for the delay. I am working on this during a busy time in my life. @RoF-I could but that would be such a pain. I really don't want to resort to that. @Auss- I will check that again. I have checked my mask several times to make sure I only have full RGB values in every pixel. Checking again won't hurt. I have also found a "clutter cutter" object that doesn't seem to do much for my problem. Thanks!

    @bhcluster-Tried the last tutorial you posted. I wish I had found this before, but unfortunately I am still having the same issue. @ellaelectro- tried your idea and didn't work What is driving me nuts is the clutter only appears in small area and nowhere in the rest of this color. The saga continues......

    @bhcluster-The clutter is generated by the cfgSurfaces file. I would probably lose my mind if I had to add all that stuff manually, LOL! @ellaelectro-I will try that and report back how it works. Fingers crossed!

    @bhcluster- No I have not. @Auss- How do I see what bit my picture is? I used GIMP to make the mask and tried looking at the file properties and played with GIMP and didn't see anything about bit size. Thanks!

    Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully this is all it is, but am sure I 99% sure they color is the same for the entire area. I will report findings when I dig deeper. Thanks again!
  21. Shrinking the scale will exaggerate the contours of the land, ie a rolling hill may look more like a sharp mountain. My suggestion is to play around with the settings, more specifically the horizontal scale, and see what looks good and works for you. Sorry for the lack of detail, but this is how I got what I was looking for. Good luck with your project.

    To clarify, the area of my mask that this applies to is concrete2. No other area of this color has this happening to it. I just double checked the mask and it appears to be lined up properly. The clutter that is popping up is actually attached to the sandpebble texture which is nowhere near this area. Thanks.

    Over sized Terrain Textures

    My guess is it's a TB setting issue. At the point where you build your terrain, under the second tab, the last pull down is how you adjust the texture size. I have read that you want this as close to 40 as possible. Hope this helps.
