After the latest patch the side to side sway is added with an up and down that is not predicated on stamina or holding breath. It is still unbearable and just no fun. Please fix. At least make it so the holding breath function actually holds the gun still instead of just added an equally obnoxious jitter after breathing again. This isn't simulating professional soldiers. It's simulating people that have never shot guns before. Please please fix. I want the game to be fun and I can't express how much it's annoying and frankly pushing more away from a true simulator. The at-rest state resembles the kind of sway one would have while fatigued.

I would first like to say I enjoy playing Arma 3. It's truly a unique game and very few others have come as close as Arma has to truly simulating modern combat. I am saying this to suggest that I am posting this with respect and admiration for the achievement in the hopes it will be taken seriously. First suggestion: Make the side to side weapon sway predicated more realistically(bearing in mind these are supposed to be trained soldiers) to stamina, stance and the relative weight and size of the weapon. That is to say, while completely rested, prone and still the side to side sway for even a weapon like the DMR Rahim should be reduced by 80-90%. What I'm not asking is for it to be stable after sprinting 200 meters while lugging lots of extra ammo. I'm asking for rested states to reflect the ease of handling and aiming a gun. Second: Reduce the affect small amounts of stamina drain have on the weapon. It's quite exaggerated. Third: Allow an option for server admins to completely remove or reduce the weapon sway, or to adjust the sway for each gun specifically to reflect their ease of use. Even the compact guns are near intolerable. In fact, the only gun I can tolerate right now while mobile is the Vermin SMG. Fourth: Make a 'rested' state. It doesn't seem to matter whether you're rested or not, that is to say it's excessive, unwieldy and far less fun. And if you have drained ~20% of the player's stamina the gun sways in an uncontrollable fashion, up down and side to side. In my opinion being an avid real life shooter and able to hit what I wish with heavier shotgun slugs at 100 yards while using the barrel's very simple iron site, that Arma 3's side to side sway is not realistic. I'm not a trained soldier but I can assure you my coordination prevents an endless side to side sway and I suspect trained soldiers that use their rifles for a living and are using weapons that are shorter and weigh less are probably a lot better than I am shooting. I'm not asking for the game to be battlefield or arma 2(which is decidedly far easier than arma 3). I'm asking that it is made fun again. It's still just a game. And using a weapon like the Rahim, a designated marksman rifle beyond 400 meters while crouched, rested, zoomed down a mrco site, it's unwieldy and 100% less fun. I respectfully request this issue be taken seriously. I have never posted on the BI forums until this addition. I want the game to be fun again! Trolls that have nothing intelligent to add to the topic, don't bother posting. I don't care what you think. :)

New Weaponsway is way to much. And holding breath bug?

It's very unrealistic. And near intolerable! I really enjoy playing Arma games. But now it's as if this simulator game is simulating people that have never held or used a gun before in their entire life. On one instance while my stamina was around 20% gone and aiming no more than 100 meters the gun was unbearably moving to a point where I could not manage to keep the iron site on the player for longer than 0.1 seconds. It's not realistic and you don't have to be a trained soldier to confirm this. I don't want this to seem like an attack. It's not. I want this game to be fun again. I suggest adding an option to disable the endless side to side sway that is not predicated on stamina, position or the relative size or weight of the weapon. As well as a reduction by no less than 80%. It's as if the soldiers in this game currently are in absolutely terrible shape, have nerve, arm or back problems that give them perpetual pain and are inexperienced handling guns. The game was already very challenging before with the very short hold breath function and sway. But now it's near game breaking. Please address this. And please, go shooting in real life. Shoot a shotgun or something, they weigh more than some of these assault rifles and are a challenge to keep steady - however, you -can- manage to keep it steady for a short period even while standing. And these are soldiers, correct? That is what the game is simulating - not civilians but trained killers. Please fix this! Please please please please please please. This kind of sway for a weapon like the Katiba while crouched and 20% stamina loss sways like the soldier is completely out of breath and is trying to hold steady a weapon like the Lynx, which would be very understandable. Meanwhile handguns have far less side to side sway which is very backwards. The handguns should have the sway, not shouldered rifles while prone and rested. Please make the game enjoyable again. And understand this isn't a complaint or attack. It's just reality. The game is a lot less fun and it's not simulating soldiers. It's simulating untrained civilians that are out of shape and have terrible coordination. -
This is supposed to be a simulator, correct? Where much of the game certainly qualifies as this, the side to side sway(the newly added sway) is not affected by holding your breath. And it is highly unrealistic and literally has ruined by desire to play Arma 3 as infantry. Even while prone a compact gun endlessly sways, whether I'm holding my breath or not. A gun like the DMR Rahim 7.62mm while prone behaves like it's a .50 sniper rifle of some kind while sitting on a ship at sea while standing. I don't know what the Rahim is supposed to be, but I can't imagine a 'future' weapon of that sort weighing more than 15 pounds, even if it did weigh more which is doubtful, it still wouldn't be hard to keep it steady while prone for probably an indefinite amount of time. While standing I can personally hold a 12 gauge Remmington 1100 steady while standing for at least 5 seconds with minimal sway, it's just not that hard frankly and if I'm sitting with support, it's steady. This isn't me tooting my own horn, it's just reality. I have a 12 year old cousin that can do the same if not better than I can. If nothing else, have the hold breath function actually function as it's intended, to hold the gun steady for a few seconds. I can't express to you how much this has ruined the gameplay in my experience. It's just no fun!! And these soldiers in the game as trained, are they not? It doesn't feel like that anymore. If feels like playing a soldier that has breathing issues and has never held a gun before in his life. I don't want a call of duty game, I don't think anybody here does. But I do want a simulator. And Arma 3 is currently not simulating a supposed elite soldier's ability to hold a gun steady for at least a few seconds. Not to mention, some of these guns are prototype 'future' weapons that are probably lightweight and almost all of them are bullup designs, which means shorter guns and much easier ability to handle. A simple fix is having the hold breath function work as intended. And adjusting some of the weapons to reflect their weight and ease of use, as well as the stances reflecting a genuine simulation. It doesn't make sense for a compact assault rifle to be swaying while prone and holding your breath. Please please please please please fix this issue! It must be priority! In my opinion it was already a bit excessive but now it's over the top no fun. It's made the game quite unplayable for me. Please please fix!! At the risk of sounding like a troll, it's as if the makers of the game have never held a gun or shot one before in their life, no offense, but that's the impression I'm getting.

Controller detecting one moment and the next not detecting
4brkfast posted a topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I am using TrackIR, which I have no issues with. Additionally, I use my Logitech G940 and Saitek X52 rudder pedals for flight. I have no issues with the hardware or software for either of these devices in other games. I am posting this because I suspect this is a bug. When the controllers are detected by the game, they work absolutely fine(considering this is primarily a shooting game, the flight models aren't bad, btw, this coming from a prop-nose aces high/il2 and former War Thunder flight modeler, that's a compliment. I enjoy flying Arma games). From time to time, it seems 50% of the time I go into the control menu, the controllers will not be displayed as detected. When they are detected one moment, they work fine(I just flew around in a jet and heli, no issues). I go back into the menu(to tweak something usually), they are not detected and cease to function. Thanks for reading.
